Mastering Viscoelasticity: Essential Traits for Plastic Development and Molding
Mastering Viscoelasticity in Plastic Development
In the world of plastic development and molding, understanding the essential property of viscoelasticity is critical. The Institute of Engineer Education (IR Tech) is organizing a public seminar to systematically teach this concept from the fundamentals to practical applications.
Why Focus on Viscoelasticity?
Many materials, including metals, experience changes in characteristics influenced by temperature and time. Plastics exhibit these effects even more dramatically. Interestingly, even the same plastic can behave differently under varying conditions. This unconventional behavior can lead to defects, such as deformations in molded products, particularly due to differences in expansion and contraction caused by temperature distribution. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of viscoelastic properties, along with the ability to anticipate changes in deformation and stress over time, is crucial to minimize defects and improve the precision of design conditions.
