Bakery China 2026 Successfully Concludes with Global Impact
The 28th edition of Bakery China culminated in great success on May 23 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai. This event solidified its status as a major global platform for the bakery and confectionery industry, fostering an environment of innovation and international connections.
Embracing Global Connections
Organized collaboratively by the China Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association and Bakery China Exhibitions Co., Ltd., this four-day exhibition was themed "Innovate Beyond • Premiere Fusion • Link Future." Spanning over 330,000 square meters, Bakery China 2026 welcomed 2,267 brands and companies from 79 countries, showcasing over 10,000 products. Nearly 400,000 professional visitors from 144 countries attended, indicating the growing importance of this event in the bakery sector.
Zhang Jiukui, the president of the China Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association, remarked, "Bakery China will continue to promote high-quality development in the bakery industry, facilitating business meetups, trend understanding, resource integration, skills improvement, brand exposure, and global exchanges."
International Participation Grows
The international profile of Bakery China 2026 was further enhanced, with international companies and brands accounting for over 20% of participants. Esteemed brands from Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, the USA, and South Korea took part. A thematic zone titled 'Baking and the Belt and Road' highlighted ingredients and techniques from countries involved in the initiative. Cultural fusions such as "Chinese flavors in Western-style pastries" and "Western techniques in traditional Chinese baking" were also a highlight. The number of foreign buyers increased by over 60%, showcasing the rising appeal of the Chinese bakery sector worldwide.
Supporting Chinese Brands Going Global
For the first time, Bakery China hosted a forum titled “Going Global,” addressing topics like international compliance certification, halal certification, local supply chain adaptation, overseas distribution channel development, and the intercultural communication of brands. This initiative provided practical references for Chinese bakery businesses seeking to expand internationally.
Showcasing Innovation in the Industry
The exhibition featured thousands of innovative products and technologies. The Bakery China Innovation Award recognized 136 products from 122 companies across the fields of ingredients, equipment, and packaging. The New Product Launch Week further established the exhibition as a vital indicator of industry innovation.
Highlights of Chocolate and Smart Manufacturing
Bakery China 2026 also introduced Chocolate China 2026, a dedicated exhibition for the chocolate industry, covering 30,000 square meters and featuring over 150 global companies from the cacao and chocolate sector. Key trends highlighted included smart manufacturing, healthy eating, and transparent labeling, with fully automated bakery production lines utilizing AI and vision-based quality control systems. These advancements demonstrate the industry's shift towards automation, traceability, and enhanced efficiency.
Cai Yi Cheng, president of the Malaysian Bakery and Confectionery Union, commented, “Bakery China is a leading global bakery trade show and an excellent platform to understand industry trends, gather inspiration, and source products.”
Looking ahead, the organizers of Bakery China are set to launch the inaugural Bakery ASEAN exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, from August 27 to 29. Additionally, the 11th Bakery China Autumn and the 9th China Home Baking Show are scheduled to take place from October 22 to 24 at the Wuhan International Expo Center.
