Empowering Understanding of Disabilities: The 2026 Tokyo Caravan for an Inclusive Society
In light of the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has initiated the
2026 Tokyo Inclusive Society Caravan aiming to foster awareness and understanding of disabilities. Starting from the fiscal year 2024, this caravan will occur in commercial facilities frequented by families and young people, serving as a platform for enlightenment about disability inclusivity.
The caravan builds on the momentum provided by the Deaflympics, embracing it as a legacy to further promote understanding of disabilities and the people who possess them. Following the successful launch last year, the 2026 caravan is set to continue this important initiative.
The caravan will coincide with significant dates such as the recently established
Help Mark Day and
Sign Language Day, which were created to enhance accessibility in our society. Attendees can expect a wide range of exciting programs designed to encourage ‘first steps towards helping each other.’ Featured are stage events led by popular celebrities and active athletes, alongside interactive content such as the
Help Mark Quest and
Sign Language Fair.
This initiative invites everyone—those with disabilities and those without—to participate in creating a society where respect and support are paramount, fostering a community where all individuals can coexist harmoniously.
