Duke Energy Foundation Introduces America250 Grant for Community Nonprofits
Duke Energy Foundation Introduces America250 Grant Opportunity
In celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, the Duke Energy Foundation is launching an exciting grant initiative known as the America250 grant program. This opportunity is specifically aimed at nonprofits across six states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida. The foundation is offering grants that range from $5,000 to $20,000 to support projects that make a significant local impact.
Starting on January 12, nonprofits can submit their proposals, with a focus on initiatives that align with the core themes of America250. These themes include:
1. Veteran Support: Projects that aid in the career transition for veterans into civilian roles, thus promoting workforce development.
2. Historical Education: Local history projects, exhibits, preservation efforts, and educational programs that reflect on the founding and ideals of America. This might include organizing field trips that educate communities about their historical roots.
3. Community Improvement: Initiatives that enhance local shared spaces such as parks, cleanups, and landscaping projects, contributing to the overall beautification and sustainability of communities.
As Loree Elswick, president of the Duke Energy Foundation, stated, "America250 is more than a milestone – it's an opportunity to reflect on our nation's history, recognize the contributions of all Americans and support the next generation through community-led projects." The foundation’s goal is to uplift both individuals and the environments that shape their communities.
