XCMG Takes a Leading Role in Shaping International Crane Standards
XCMG Takes a Pioneering Step in the Global Crane Standardization Process
In a significant development for the construction equipment industry, XCMG, recognized as the third-largest manufacturer of construction machinery in the world, is actively involved in the international standardization of cranes. Recently, representatives from 16 nations gathered at the ISO/TC96 technical committee meetings in Frankfurt, Germany, to discuss the future of crane standards. Among the leaders at this event was Shan Zenghai, XCMG's vice president and chief engineer, who spearheaded the company's delegation, emphasizing China's commitment to advancing crane technology standards globally.
The meeting, which took place in June 2026, saw over one hundred experts from renowned countries including the USA, Germany, the UK, and Japan come together. During these sessions, delegates engaged in crucial discussions surrounding safety regulations, inspection protocols, and the utilization of mobile cranes, all key components in the efforts to enhance safety and efficiency in crane operations.
Shan Zenghai, additionally heading the working group focused on the safe use of mobile cranes, reported on the progress of the ISO 12480-2 standard— a framework developed under Chinese leadership aimed at ensuring the safe operation of mobile cranes. This initiative marks a significant step forward as the project has moved into the international standard draft phase (DIS), a critical milestone for its implementation.
The Chinese delegation, led by XCMG's technical experts, also proposed innovative projects regarding ISO 9927-2, which pertains to mobile crane inspections, capturing the attention of attending international experts. Moreover, the team has taken the reins in revising several other international standards, strongly demonstrating China's authoritative role in establishing safety guidelines for crane operations worldwide.
During the three-day event, discussions led to the advancement of work related to 14 international crane standards, many of which are currently under Chinese leadership or revision. Notably, the delegates put forth two new international proposals while launching six additional projects focused on standard development, further solidifying China's substantial influence in the global crane manufacturing industry.
XCMG's proactive engagement in international standards development is a testament to its dedication to driving innovation within the Chinese manufacturing sector. The company's efforts not only facilitate the export of high-quality products but also contribute significantly to the establishment of regulations that govern the industry at an international level. XCMG has now played a pivotal role in the formulation of over ten international standards, highlighting its ongoing commitment to enhancing operational safety and efficiency across the global market.
The national representation by XCMG and its strategic focus on technical standards also speaks to China's aspirations to become a central hub in the global construction equipment sector. The advances made in these international meetings reflect the collective expertise and innovation that Chinese companies bring to the forefront of equipment manufacturing. By leading discussions on international safety standards and best practices, XCMG reinforces its position not only as a market leader but also as a provider of world-class technological solutions.
As XCMG continues to shape the landscape of the international crane sector, it remains committed to supporting the modernization of the construction equipment industry, underscoring the significance of collaborative efforts in standardization practices that pave the way for safer and more efficient operations worldwide. This initiative not only benefits the manufacturing sector but also establishes a framework that supports sustainable development and innovation across the industry.
