America First Credit Union Broadens Reach in Arizona with New Branch Openings

In a significant move to enhance financial accessibility, America First Credit Union announced the opening of eight new branches across Arizona by 2027. This expansion aims to address the increasing financial needs of residents in one of the nation’s fastest-growing states. The opening kicked off with the inaugural branch located in Goodyear on September 15, followed by the upcoming branches slated to launch in Mesa and Queen Creek in October. The remaining five branches will be established in Surprise, Glendale, North Scottsdale, Tucson, and South Scottsdale over the next two years.

This strategic growth initiative by America First Credit Union not only signifies the credit union's commitment to supporting community financial well-being but also translates to the creation of over 80 job opportunities in the region. Thayne Shaffer, President and CEO of America First, emphasized Arizona's vibrant growth narrative, highlighting the necessity for reliable financial institutions that provide more than just basic banking services. He stated, "As the population grows, so does the need for trustworthy financial partners who offer more than just banking. We're here to support the financial wellness of our members as well as the communities where they live."

Each new branch is designed to serve as a center for financial literacy and education, hosting workshops and seminars focused on critical topics such as budgeting, credit management, homeownership, and fraud prevention. This aligns with America First's mission as a member-owned, not-for-profit institution, dedicated to empowering its members through financial knowledge and quality service.

The design of each branch reflects the unique character of its surrounding community, incorporating local architectural features and interior layouts that foster an inviting atmosphere. Customers can expect modern facilities that include drive-thru services, ATMs, and Interactive Video Teller systems, ensuring efficient access to banking services.

To celebrate the openings, America First will organize ribbon-cutting ceremonies and appreciation events for its members. Additionally, the America First Charitable Foundation plans to contribute to local nonprofits that focus on essential community services, education, and youth programs.

With its roots tracing back 86 years, America First has evolved from a modest financial institution catering to military personnel and federal employees to become one of the largest and most progressive credit unions in the country. It now operates over 115 locations across several states, including Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

This expansion into Arizona underscores America First’s commitment to helping its members navigate their financial journeys more effectively. As the fifth-largest credit union in the United States, boasting over 1.4 million members and assets exceeding $22 billion, America First remains dedicated to its ethos of 'people helping people,' striving to build stronger communities by enhancing financial well-being for all its members.
