Seminar Overview
The upcoming seminar titled "Exploring the Latest Trends in Perovskite Development" will be led by Yuichiro Omi, a senior researcher at the Renewable Energy Foundation. Set for
September 26, 2025, from
1 PM to 3 PM, the seminar will take place at the SSK seminar room in Tokyo, and will also be accessible via
live streaming on Zoom and
archive viewing for two weeks afterwards.
Key Topics
This seminar focuses on the latest trends in the development of perovskite solar cells, particularly in light of Japan's
Seventh Energy Basic Plan, which sets ambitious targets for the integration of perovskite technology into the national energy mix. The government has proposed a goal of installing
20 GW of perovskite solar panels by 2040. Following this initiative, various domestic manufacturers have begun to conduct experimental trials across the country. Several crucial aspects will be discussed in the seminar:
1.
Initiation of Experimental Trials
- The installation of perovskite panels on lightweight roofs and walls of warehouses and buildings.
- Setting up panels on infrastructure such as airports and wind farms.
- Integration of perovskite technology with building materials, including windows, balconies, and tiles.
2.
Addressing Cost and Durability Challenges
- The seminar outlines current challenges associated with perovskite technology, focusing on manufacturing costs and durability.
- New installation methods that aim to reduce costs while increasing the durability of the panels are being developed and tested in real-world scenarios.
- The creation of barrier films that enhance the longevity of perovskite solar cells will also be addressed.
3.
Legal Frameworks and Production Support
- To expedite social implementation, discussions will cover the establishment of governmental targets for perovskite adoption and the legal challenges specific to new installation methods.
- Insights into expanded production support and assistance in developing new installation techniques will be shared.
4.
Q&A Session / Networking
- Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker during the Q&A session and can exchange business cards.
