SSSTC Unveils Advanced SSDs for AI Data Centers at Computex 2026
In an exciting development at Computex 2026, the Solid State Storage Technology Corporation (SSSTC), a subsidiary of Kioxia Corporation, introduced a new range of enterprise SSDs specifically optimized for immersion cooling. This innovative product lineup aims to address the pressing thermal challenges faced by AI-driven data centers, marking a significant leap forward in SSD technology.
With the rapid advancements in generative AI and high-density computing architectures, effective thermal management becomes crucial. SSSTC has responded to this need by enhancing its SSDs for environments requiring liquid cooling. These improvements have been made possible through the use of corrosion-resistant materials, reinforced component protection, and robust designs that cater specifically to cooling technologies.
The newly launched SSD portfolio includes several series: the SATA ER3, ER4, and ER5, along with the PCIe® U.2 series PJ1 and EJ5. These products are perfectly suited for immersive cooling environments, which involve submerging systems in non-conductive dielectric liquids. Leveraging the high heat capacity and convection properties of liquids, the SSDs ensure efficient thermal dissipation via liquid circulation and heat exchange. This innovative cooling method reduces reliance on conventional air cooling while enhancing overall energy efficiency and reliability.
Furthermore, SSSTC has unveiled an extensive range of SSDs designed for industrial and enterprise applications tailored for AI and edge computing. The industrial SSDs are tailored to support edge AI performance in rugged environments, equipped with operational temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, along with designs resilient to vibrations and shocks, making them ideal for outdoor and industrial settings. The use of a pSLC architecture enhances longevity during sustained write-intensive workloads, while a multi-tier Power Loss Protection (PLP) framework—comprising hardware-PLP, firmware-PLP, and PLN—provides flexible data protection options.
The enterprise eTLC SSDs are engineered to offer stable performance for various AI workloads. These SSDs come with lifecycle options of 1 and 3 DWPD over a five-year span, ensuring sustained random IOPS consistency exceeding 90%. Such features minimize performance fluctuations, making them suitable for high-demand applications. The firmware optimized for high-density computing ensures low-latency operations, while capacitor-based PLP combined with immersion cooling yields dependable performance even in challenging operational environments.
SSSTC's expertise, honed over more than 18 years of proprietary firmware development, allows the company to understand and cater to the diverse storage needs across different sectors. Customers can benefit from adaptable options including configurable over-provisioning, lifetime and capacity optimization, performance and power optimization, as well as application-specific firmware development. SSSTC is committed to assisting clients in establishing robust, efficient, and sustainable AI storage infrastructures.
Founded in 2008 and part of the Kioxia Corporation since 2020, SSSTC has continued to deliver high-quality SSDs based on proprietary expertise in firmware and NAND storage technology. For more information on their innovative solutions, please visit the SSSTC website.
