Exploring the New Travel Magnet Inspired by Tokyo Metropolitan Government

Discover the New Travel Magnet from Tokyo

A captivating new souvenir has arrived for visitors of Tokyo – the Travel Magnet inspired by the remarkable Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Developed by PENON, a company dedicated to addressing global and societal issues through creative manufacturing, this limited edition magnet is perfectly timed with the creative light festival named TOKYO LIGHTS 2026. The festival spotlights stunning projections against one of Tokyo's most iconic landmarks: the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

Features of the Travel Magnet

Available for exclusive pre-sale at two shops in the observation decks of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, this charming magnet features a vibrant design by acclaimed Tokyo illustrator Shinji Tsuchimochi. Known for his creative interpretations influenced by Ukiyo-e art, Tsuchimochi's work reflects the enchanting visual experiences presented during the projection mapping event.

Representing the theater of light at the festival, the magnet beautifully encapsulates a dynamic view of the First Main Building, showcasing both power and elegance through striking imagery and composition. The tactile features of this piece, enhanced through textured processing, hold the exuberant feeling you experience when gazing up at the majestic government building.

The Tokyo Lights Festival

TOKYO LIGHTS 2026, taking place from May 23rd to May 31st, 2026, is an impressive light festival that transforms the night sky of Tokyo into a canvas for creative expression. It invites global creators to participate in an international projection mapping competition while merging technology, light, and art into an experience filled with hope and innovation. This year's theme, Visible Tokyo, seeks to reveal the hidden narratives and memories enshrined within the metropolis, ultimately providing a reflective view of urban life.

Special Promotions

To enhance your experience during the festival, PENON is set to host the Tokyo Lights Spot Rally across the Nishi-Shinjuku area. By visiting designated spots and scanning QR codes, attendees can collect stamps; the first 250 to collect all seven will be gifted the exclusive Travel Magnet featuring the Tokyo Metropolitan Government design.

Tsuchimochi shares his thoughts, stating, “The Metropolitan Government Building represents a sense of futuristic charm that encapsulates Shinjuku. I wanted to incorporate Japanese sentiment, inspired by the rain imagery of Ukiyo-e masters such as Hiroshige, to create my own representation of rain – like beams of light.”
