Unleashing Potential in Spain's Energy Storage Market
JDEnergy successfully hosted a webinar that convened their technical and local sales teams alongside their Spanish partner, WDenergia. The presentation offered significant insights into Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technologies, practical project applications, and local market development in Spain. The topic, "Future-Proof Energy Storage: String PCS Architecture for the Energy Transition in Spain," provided attendees with an intricate look at JDEnergy's String-PCS framework and its implementation in large-scale energy storage projects as well as commercial and industrial applications.
One of the main focuses of the session was how the BESS architecture affects system performance throughout the project lifecycle. Unlike conventional centralized designs, JDEnergy's String-PCS architecture enables independent control at the battery cluster level. This means that parallel DC connections are eliminated, allowing each cluster to charge and discharge according to its own operating conditions. This results in maximized usable energy, enhanced fault isolation, improved system availability, and operational flexibility. Over the entirety of the system lifecycle, this comprehensive battery management approach can help mitigate the effects of varying battery losses, maintain higher energy efficiency, and deliver more consistent system performance over time.
From Architecture to Application
During the webinar, JDEnergy showcased the eBlock-418A— a modular energy storage solution designed for grid-side and large-scale commercial and industrial applications that integrates their String-PCS architecture. This architecture supports flexible system scaling to meet diverse project requirements. Additionally, its grid-forming capabilities allow the system to establish and regulate voltage and frequency within its operational range. The eBlock-418A has already been deployed in Hungary, Germany, Italy, Japan, and several other overseas markets, proving its reliability under various grid conditions and application scenarios.
Building on this international project experience, JDEnergy is looking to widen its footprint in Spain through its partnership with WDenergia. A framework agreement targeting a BESS business volume of 200 MWh has been established, focusing on commercial and industrial energy storage projects that combine JDEnergy's technology and project experience with the local development and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) competencies of WDenergia.
As Spain advances its renewable energy agenda while demand for grid flexibility grows, JDEnergy aims to continue delivering its proven energy storage technologies and leveraging its international project experience. By collaborating with local partners, they aspire to promote the deployment of more reliable, flexible, and efficient energy storage systems across the Spanish market.
