Dalton School Tokyo is excited to announce its upcoming Open Campus event scheduled for June 21, 2026. This immersive experience invites families with children from birth to sixth grade, as well as expectant parents, to participate in hands-on educational programs that cultivate autonomy and curiosity in children. The event will showcase unique programs, including the new "Dalton Parenting Talk Salon," tailored to provide insights and activities for various age groups.

A Gateway to Inquiry through Play

The heart of Dalton School's approach lies in the "Dalton Plan," an educational model proposed by Helen Parkhurst. This model emphasizes respecting each child's individuality and freedom, allowing them to discover and enjoy learning. At the Open Campus, children will be encouraged to express their interests with programs designed to engage their curiosity and imagination across different age ranges.

Featured Programs

1. Expecting Parents and Toddlers (0 to 2 Years):
The "Dalton Parenting Talk Salon" is a unique program for families expecting a child up to two years old. Led by pediatricians, this session will cover the remarkable abilities of newborns and the developmental milestones of infants, aiming to enhance parental understanding during these formative years.

2. For Toddlers (0 to 2 Years):
Parents and children can join the "Materials Exploration" experience, which focuses on creating educational materials using familiar colors and textures, promoting sensory learning through hands-on activities.

3. For Preschoolers (3 to 5 Years):
Engage in the "Animal Project," where children explore animals through visual and investigative activities. They will also enjoy "Free Play," where they choose their favorite activities, and engage with cutting-edge digital tools in a "Robotics and Programming" session (available for students up to sixth grade).

4. For Elementary School Students:
Students will face challenges through the "Mathematics" puzzles, explore scientific experiments, and participate in the "Writing and Mystery Solving" program. These activities are designed to enhance logical thinking, hypothesis formation, and creative writing skills based on their individual interests.

5. Programs for All Ages:
Families can also enjoy engaging with art in an English language context, attend talks by alumni involved in youthful entertainment festivals, and experience engaging rhythmic activities that promote bonding between parents and children.
