FAMAR Welcomes New Leadership Under Bruce Vielle
In a significant move, FAMAR, a prominent contract development and manufacturing organization based in Europe, has announced the appointment of Bruce Vielle as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 3, 2026. This strategic decision aims to drive innovation and operational excellence within the company.
Bruce Vielle brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has dedicated his career to overseeing complex manufacturing operations and was most recently the CEO of Synerlab Group and its successor, Meribel Pharma Solutions. During his tenure, he managed a workforce of 2,000 and multiple manufacturing sites across France, Spain, and Sweden. His skill set is strengthened by his previous role as Chief Operating Officer at Vétoquinol, a major player in the animal health sector, where he oversaw nine manufacturing locations.
As an engineer with an Executive MBA from HEC Paris, Vielle is well-versed in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Under his leadership, FAMAR is poised to expand its capabilities and upgrade its technologies, notably in sterile manufacturing, an essential area for pharmaceutical companies today. Recently, FAMAR invested in sterile fill-finish capacity in Germany, aligning with its commitment to provide state-of-the-art services to its clients.
Peter Prock, Chairman of FAMAR, expressed enthusiasm for Vielle’s appointment: "Bruce is a proven CDMO leader with a strong track record. We are confident that his expertise in operational execution and sterile manufacturing will facilitate our growth as we invest in new capabilities."
In his statement, Vielle expressed his excitement about joining FAMAR, highlighting the company's solid European presence and established customer relationships. He emphasized the importance of innovation and service enhancement: "Our customers are growing, and FAMAR's role is to grow with them. I look forward to collaborating with the entire team to meet these objectives."
The transition follows Dr. Riku Rautsola’s leadership as interim CEO, who will assist in ensuring a seamless handover. Rautsola has played a crucial role in maintaining FAMAR's focus on customer relations and performance during his tenure. He commended Vielle as an exemplary choice for guiding FAMAR forward, especially in light of ongoing investments in the company’s infrastructure.
FAMAR, under its new leadership, intends to continue fostering strong partnerships with its clients, ensuring that operational excellence remains central to its strategy. The support from its shareholder, MidEuropa, further emphasizes FAMAR's mission to enhance its market position and service capability.
In conclusion, the appointment of Bruce Vielle heralds a new chapter for FAMAR, aimed at leveraging his extensive experience to navigate the challenges of the pharmaceutical manufacturing landscape while focusing on customer-driven growth. The future looks promising as FAMAR commits to both innovation and reliability in its services.
