Nikka Home's Commitment to Local Education
Nikka Home Co., Ltd., based in Nagoya, Japan, is dedicated to community engagement through its ongoing workplace learning program for local middle school students. On September 4th and 5th, 2025, two 8th-grade students from Hachioji City were given an opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of workplace learning, an initiative that has gained momentum since its launch in 2023.
This program emphasizes hands-on learning where students experience the role of a sales representative within a renovation firm. Participants engage in core tasks typical to the industry, such as conducting on-site surveys, drafting estimates, and proposing products in a simulated environment.
Realistic Sales Experience
Throughout the experience, students participated in several practical exercises designed to mirror the duties of an actual sales staff member:
- - Product Comparison: Utilizing showroom displays, students assessed various products.
- - On-Site Surveys and Planning: Students conducted surveys of residential spaces, using these insights to create tailored plans.
- - Sales Role-Playing: Through role-play scenarios using estimates, students gained a better understanding of the sales process.
Feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed surprise at how engaging and rewarding sales can be, noting the newfound perspective on future employment opportunities. One student remarked, "I thought sales jobs were difficult, but I realized they can be fulfilling."
The Aim Behind the Initiative
Nikka Home is steadfast in its mission to enhance education by providing pivotal experiences that encourage young people to appreciate the meaning of work. The initiative serves to:
- - Highlight the Importance of Work: Students are introduced to the concept of working and what it entails.
- - Inspire Future Career Aspirations: By connecting academic learning with real-world applications, students are motivated to think about their future career paths.
Since its inception at the Hachioji showroom, the program has received positive evaluations from participants and educational staff, marking this year as the third consecutive year of implementation.
Future Endeavors: Supporting Education and Community
Nikka Home aims to bolster its role as a community-focused organization. With a commitment to educational support and social contribution, Nikka Home plans to expand its initiatives across its various showrooms, offering more opportunities for youth to learn and engage. The company envisions a partnership with local communities, fostering growth and development together.
