Morehouse College to Build Cutting-Edge Supercomputer with NSF Grant for Research and Innovation

In a historic move, Morehouse College has been awarded a significant grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to spearhead a revolutionary project that will establish one of the most powerful academic supercomputers in the southeastern United States. The project represents a staggering investment of $457 million aimed at enhancing the cyberinfrastructure of higher education. The supercomputer, named 'Horizon', will be constructed in partnership with the Texas Advanced Computing Center at the University of Texas at Austin. As the principal investigator for the project, Dr. Kinnis Gosha, the Chair of Computer Science at Morehouse College, will lead the development of this state-of-the-art facility. An initial allocation of $5 million from the NSF grant will jumpstart the construction process, with additional funding expected to support ongoing operations and advancements.
