HunterLab Unveils Its New Generation Vista® L2 Color Measurement Device with Extended Range

HunterLab Introduces the Vista® L2

HunterLab, a renowned leader in color measurement technology, has officially launched the Vista® L2, an advanced version of its transmission spectrophotometer. This state-of-the-art device provides manufacturers with the capability to measure color and turbidity in transparent and translucent liquids as well as solid materials, now extending the spectral range up to 710 nm.

Enhanced Capabilities

The upgraded capabilities of the Vista L2 include the latest Essentials L2 software that promises a significant boost in computational power. Notably, this advancement does not require users to alter their existing methodologies or accessories, allowing for a seamless transition for current users.

The increased spectral range empowers quality control teams across various industries, such as beverages, edible oils, liquid chemicals, pharmaceuticals, translucent plastic preforms, and environmental testing. The clarity offered by this enhanced range allows for more accurate differentiation between real color (measured as absorbance) and turbidity (measured as light scattering), thus aiding manufacturers in identifying inconsistencies in liquid products early on and with enhanced confidence in color stability assessments.

The 710 nm range also facilitates chlorophyll measurement at 630, 670, and 710 nm, in compliance with AOCS Cc 13d-55—a standard method crucial for monitoring oxidation and preserving the shelf life of edible oils.

Perfectly Tailored for Modern Needs

According to Bob Weaver, President of HunterLab, today's quality control teams are under pressure to conduct more tests in shorter timeframes without necessitating additional equipment or workforce increases. The Vista L2 meets these needs efficiently by expanding the measurement range with a single unit while maintaining familiar operational methods and accessories. This modernized device presents customers with new opportunities without disrupting their existing workflows.

Retaining the successful Vista platform, the Vista L2 maintains familiar features such as a transmissive geometry, full-spectrum LED illumination, and a user-friendly touch interface. Among the new features is 32 GB of built-in storage capable of storing millions of measurements, HDMI output for displaying results on external screens, and an integrated wavelength verification standard ensuring consistent performance. Software updates through Essentials L2 are easily conducted via a flash drive or direct internet connection.

Innovative Measurement Techniques

The Vista L2 is unique among transmission devices in its application of Beer-Lambert's Law with the precision required to determine absolute color using standard cuvettes and vials. It automatically measures food oils at both 5.25-inch and 1-inch paths while reading color according to the APHA scale in smaller cuvettes, thereby reducing reliance on costly specialty cuvettes.

Interchangeable holders and base plates are available in multi-functional, precision, and self-centering designs to secure liquids, bottles, cuvettes, translucent plastic preforms, films, and flow samples using a combination of magnetic grips and positioning pins—ensuring repeatable results across all measurements.

Availability and Company Overview

The Vista L2 is now available for purchase, and further details, along with requests for demonstrations, can be accessed at HunterLab's official website.
