Southern Legacy of Life Marks Top Achievements in Organ and Tissue Donation Efforts for 2025

Southern Legacy of Life Celebrates Landmark Year in Organ and Tissue Donation

Southern Legacy of Life, previously known as ARORA, has made remarkable strides in organ and tissue donation over the past year, achieving its most ambitious goals for 2025. This year set a record amid a landscape of evolving healthcare dynamics and a nationwide decline in donor registrations, proving that commitment and community spirit can lead to lifesaving results.

In a recent announcement, Mark Tudor, President and CEO of Southern Legacy of Life, expressed pride in the organization’s achievements, stating, "Every year, our team commits to saving as many lives as possible through organ and tissue donation, and once again we've exceeded that goal making this our second-best year ever. The generosity of Arkansans continues to make a lifesaving impact across the country."

Donation Impact

In 2025, Southern Legacy of Life facilitated donations from
  • - 174 organ donors, resulting in 437 successful organ transplants.
  • - 859 tissue donors, each potentially impacting thousands of lives.
  • - 435 ocular donors, which allowed for 870 individuals to regain their sight.
  • - 271 mothers who donated birth tissue post-delivery, contributing to future research and medical treatments.

These statistics are a testament to the generous spirit of individuals and families across Arkansas, highlighting an unwavering commitment to community health and well-being. Tudor, a donor dad himself, acknowledged the dedication of the Southern Legacy team, noting their relentless efforts to work alongside hospital partners, medical professionals, and volunteers to revitalize and restore lives through donation.

Expanding Hope and Community

By surpassing its annual goals, Southern Legacy of Life not only enhanced its operational metrics but also strengthened collaborations with local hospitals and cultivated community partnerships. In the U.S., over 100,000 individuals are currently awaiting the gift of a lifesaving organ, with approximately 350 people in Arkansas alone on the transplant list. The organization’s remarkable contributions bring hope to families across the region and serve as a call to action for those considering donation.

Southern Legacy of Life, designated as the organ procurement organization for 64 out of Arkansas's 75 counties, is dedicated to not just facilitating organ recovery, but also acting as an advocate for awareness and education in the community. Through extensive outreach and collaboration with various stakeholders in the healthcare sector, they aim to maintain momentum in increasing donor registrations and expanding the scope of their services.
