Hitachi Vantara LLC, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has officially launched its Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) as a software-defined storage solution on the Google Cloud Marketplace. This announcement was made on July 30, 2023, at 9:00 AM EST (or 10:00 PM JST).
VSP One brings cutting-edge capabilities to enterprises, featuring bidirectional asynchronous replication, thin provisioning, and advanced data compression, aimed at providing enterprise-grade functionality in the public cloud. By implementing VSP One, businesses can achieve greater flexibility, increase data efficiency, expand disaster recovery options, and simplify data migration between on-premises and cloud environments.
In the evolving landscape of hybrid cloud architecture, more companies are transitioning to a blend of public and private clouds to meet dynamic business needs. According to a cloud adoption report for 2025, approximately 80% of businesses are currently operating multiple public clouds, and 60% are managing various private clouds. The complexity of this infrastructure underscores the necessity for consistency and control in data management. Recent industry surveys have highlighted that 47% of IT and security leaders experience a lack of visibility throughout their hybrid environments, making data risk management increasingly challenging, especially as AI continues to expand data storage requirements.
With the launch of VSP One on the Google Cloud Marketplace, organizations now have access to a single management interface that does not require a complete rearchitecture. The integrated thin provisioning and compression functionalities can reduce cloud storage costs by up to 40%, allowing enterprises to maximize efficiency and performance while minimizing overhead. Additionally, the bidirectional asynchronous replication feature provides flexibility in data replication configurations, thereby reinforcing disaster recovery strategies.
Dai Vu, Managing Director of Google Cloud’s Marketplace & ISV GTM Programs, stated, "The availability of VSP One on the Google Cloud Marketplace enables companies to quickly deploy, manage, and scale data management solutions on Google Cloud’s reliable global infrastructure. This empowers Hitachi Vantara to offer secure scaling and support in enterprises' digital transformation efforts."
VSP One is engineered to deliver enterprise-level availability on public cloud platforms while ensuring high reliability and uptime required by businesses of all sizes. This is particularly crucial when downtime or reconstruction costs can significantly affect an organization. Moreover, VSP One not only offers continuous availability but also facilitates native migration to any storage platform or cloud, aiding in rapid recovery from unforeseen failures and ensuring business continuity with higher reliability.
Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer of Hitachi Vantara, remarked, "Enterprises seek the freedom to choose the best cloud for any workload while ensuring their data is secure, accessible when needed, and easy to manage. With VSP One's availability on Google Cloud Marketplace and the new bidirectional asynchronous replication feature, we are enhancing resilience and streamlining hybrid cloud operations for businesses."
Hitachi Vantara’s channel partners can seize new opportunities to support businesses’ hybrid cloud strategy evolution. Specifically, by providing a more flexible software-defined approach along with integration with Google Cloud, partners can tackle key enterprise challenges related to resilience, security, and sustainability while enhancing operational efficiency, bolstering data protection, and maximizing the value of existing infrastructures.
The expansion to Google Cloud reflects Hitachi Vantara's ongoing commitment to innovation across its VSP One platform.
In Japan, the VSP One will become available for purchase starting September 30, 2023.
