The third edition of the "TOKYO DIGICONX" took place from January 8 to January 10 at Tokyo Big Sight, focusing on invigorating industries related to XR, Metaverse, AI, Web3, and content. Hosted by the Council for the XR and Metaverse Industry Exhibition, the three-day event showcased approximately 200 exhibitors from various sectors.

During the event, business seminars, pitch events, and experiential opportunities were available, attracting around 8000 visitors. The exhibition served as a vibrant marketplace for networking and conducting business discussions, all while introducing participants to cutting-edge technological advances.

Opening Ceremony Highlights


The opening day featured a video message from Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, who expressed support for the exhibitors leveraging advanced digital technologies and creating exceptional content to enrich the digital space. She recognized the importance of collaboration and the potential of diverse strengths merging to produce globally admired products and services.

Additionally, Kanemi Mabuchi, a co-representative of Metaverse Japan, addressed the audience, emphasizing the ongoing integration of AI technologies with XR and the transformative impacts expected in lifestyles and business scenes. The evening included an opening performance by the official ambassador, Aimi Sekiguchi, who collaborated with imgee's En Kono for an XR art performance, promising a captivating experience.

Engaging Business Seminars


Throughout the three days, various business seminars allowed attendees to learn from industry leaders. Notable speakers included directors working on AI films like "Taste of Water" and "Grandma Rebito" and those involved in Japan’s first genuine AI animation, "Twins Hina Hima." Prominent artists such as Haruo Chikada, Naruyuki Kikuchi, Zeebra, and Taku Takahashi also engaged in discussions about AI's role in music and the arts.

On the public day, game streaming performances by Ambassador Pocky attracted younger audiences, amplifying excitement and engagement in the event.

Exhibition and Matching Opportunities


The exhibition halls buzzed with energy as around 200 businesses from XR, Metaverse, AI, Web3, and content sectors showcased their innovations. A dedicated concierge booth facilitated introductions between visitors and exhibitors to enhance networking and foster new business opportunities.

The second day concluded with a networking event for exhibitors, promoting conversations and exchanges of information that could lead to collaborative projects.

A key highlight was the interactive experience zone, designed to broaden participation in XR, Metaverse, and content fields. The zone included beginner-friendly Metaverse courses and hands-on experience opportunities with the latest VR headsets, including Meta Quest 3. The public day featured ASUS’s latest gaming PCs, drawing enthusiastic crowds, particularly from children and students.

Pitch Events to Showcase Innovations


"DIGICONX THE PITCH" served as a crucial platform where innovative exhibitors presented their forward-looking products and services. Aimed at spotlighting new digital content opportunities, the pitch event took place on January 9, drawing interest from judges including Hiroaki Ishige from Shochiku Ventures and others relevant to the industry.

Award categories recognized outstanding innovations, including:
  • - Grand Prize: OUEN for a groundbreaking AI-enhanced inspection technology.
  • - Second Prizes presented to LIFESCAPES and Tenku, highlighting their contributions to AI and genomics.
