Jericho Project's 2025 Day of Action

On this day, volunteers across New York City will unite to spread joy among residents in Jericho's supportive housing facilities. With around 3,000 individuals served yearly, including over 700 veterans, the Jericho Project focuses on providing comprehensive support to ensure long-term stability.

Tori Lyon, the CEO of the Jericho Project, shared her insights on the significance of the Day of Action: "This tradition, started nearly a decade ago, aims to raise awareness of the hardships that many New Yorkers encounter in their pursuit of a home. The overwhelming support we've received from volunteers, staff, and funders is truly heartwarming as we come together to bring festive cheer and decorations to our residents."

Volunteer Efforts to Create Joy

Volunteers will be busy at seven Jericho facilities including three veteran-specific residences located in the Bronx. Their activities will consist of wrapping presents, preparing gift bags, and decorating spaces to reflect the festive spirit of the season. This year's event benefits from the collaboration of several generous corporate and community partners, including ExtensisHR, Drexel Hamilton, Douglaston Development, Millennium Management, Gibson Dunn, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley, and MEGA Contracting Group.

Impact of Jericho Project

Jericho Project stands out in its mission to empower individuals and families dealing with homelessness or housing insecurity. The organization provides not just housing, but also critical services geared towards improving employment opportunities, mental health, wellness, and family cohesion.

An impressive 95% of residents in Jericho's housing program avoid returning to homelessness, showcasing the effectiveness of its supportive model. The organization operates various facilities including eight congregate residences and two scatter-site programs, together housing over 700 apartments for families and individuals previously grappling with homelessness.

For residents, having their own apartment means stability and dignity, with rents calculated at one-third of their income, coupled with access to onsite and community-based support services.
