Eva Koci Joins Hemlo Mining Corp. as Independent Director to Strengthen Leadership

Hemlo Mining Corp. has recently made an important addition to its Board of Directors with the appointment of Eva Koci, a seasoned expert in capital markets, known for her extensive experience in the mining industry. Effective immediately, Ms. Koci will not only bring her wealth of knowledge but also serve as the Chair of the Compensation Committee and a vital member of the Audit Committee. Her appointment elevates Hemlo Mining's Board to a total of seven directors, the majority of whom are independent, thus enhancing the governance practices in place at the company.

Jonathan Awde, Executive Chair of Hemlo Mining, expressed enthusiasm about Ms. Koci’s addition, noting her over twenty years of leadership in capital markets specifically within the mining sector, as a tremendous asset for the Board. He remarked on her proven track record of fostering business growth and creating shareholder value, which aligns with Hemlo Mining's ambitions to solidify its standing as a premier gold producer in Canada.

In her own words, Eva Koci is keen to step into this role as she recognizes the significant potential of the Hemlo Mine. With a rich history and considerable untapped resources, she is looking forward to collaborating closely with both management and her fellow board members to harness growth opportunities and enhance the company's value for its shareholders.

Eva Koci brings with her a robust educational background and impressive career achievements. Before joining Hemlo Mining, she served as the Partner and Head of Capital Markets at Oberon Capital Corporation from 2013 to 2024. There, she was instrumental in transforming Oberon into one of Canada's largest charity flow-through financing firms, successfully generating over $1.5 billion in raised funds during that time. Prior to that role, she initiated her career in investment banking at Scotia Capital Markets, before moving into equity sales, where she excelled at Jennings Capital and Stifel Nicolaus Canada Inc.

Her previous board experience includes serving as an independent director and audit committee member at South Kirkland Gold, where she provided her capital markets insights to aid the company in strategizing for a future public listing. With a CFA charter and an MBA in Finance from the Rotman School of Management, her academic credentials further bolster her capability to contribute meaningfully to the company's objectives.

Ms. Koci’s entrance to the Board of Directors also warrants adjustments in the committee structures. The Audit, Compensation, and Nominating and Governance Committees will now consist entirely of independent directors, a strategic move aligning with best practices in corporate governance.

The committees are now organized as follows:
  • - Audit Committee: Tom Yip (Chair), Eva Koci, Robert Quartermain
  • - Compensation Committee: Eva Koci (Chair), Robert Quartermain, Audra Walsh
  • - Nominating and Governance Committee: Robert Quartermain (Chair), Audra Walsh, Tom Yip
  • - EHS Technical Committee: Audra Walsh (Chair), Jason Kosec, Robert Quartermain

Hemlo Mining Corp. is dedicated to enhancing the Hemlo gold camp located in Northwestern Ontario. The Hemlo Gold Mine, the company's flagship asset, holds the production record of approximately 25 million ounces of gold since its operations began in 1985, illustrating the historic significance and potential future output of the mine. With Ms. Koci's expertise added to the leadership team, Hemlo Mining aims to bolster operational efficiency, extend mine life, and ensure future production growth, thus reflecting a commitment to maximizing the inherent value of its primary asset.

The appointment serves as a pivotal moment for Hemlo Mining, charting a course for sustained growth and strengthened independence in its strategic operations.
