Kansas City Hickory Provisions Invests in New Production Facility in Missouri
Kansas City Hickory Provisions (KCHP) has recently announced its exciting plans to establish a new production and distribution center in Harrisonville, Missouri. This facility is set to occupy the site of a defunct Walmart building on North Commercial Street, a move that aims to rejuvenate the area while also capitalizing on the regional passion for barbecue.
The new facility will be USDA-inspected and SQF-certified, which highlights KCHP's commitment to maintaining the highest standards in food safety and quality. This investment is part of a broader strategy to amplify the production capabilities of KCHP, a company with deep roots in the Kansas City barbecue tradition, primarily led by the Fiorella-Dorman family, creators of the beloved Jack Stack Barbecue.
Spanning an impressive 72,000 square feet, the Harrisonville facility represents a significant expansion from its current operations. KCHP’s mission centers on delivering both premium branded and private-label Kansas City-style barbecue products to a national customer base through retail and food service channels. With growing demand in these markets, this new site is essential in scaling their production to meet these needs effectively.
Keaton Dorman, the president of the KCHP family ownership group, emphasized that this facility will cement their position as a top private-label producer of authentic Kansas City-style smoked meats. The location was strategically chosen, as it lies just south of Jack Stack’s original roots, symbolizing a return to their early beginnings while enhancing local economic opportunities.
Kirk Durham, the Vice President of Retail Operations, shared insights into the community aspect of this investment. He remarked, “This is more than a business decision — it's a community investment. We’ve always believed in reinvesting in the people and the places that made Kansas City barbecue what it is.
