Pingtairong Group Takes Center Stage at the 2026 SMI China Forum
On June 22, 2026, the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) China Forum took place in Beijing, coinciding with the 4th China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE). This significant event welcomed global leaders from various sectors to discuss pressing issues surrounding green supply chain resilience and sustainable development strategies. Key figures at the event included Liu Jiannan, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Chairman of the SMI China Council; Saifi, CEO of SMI Global Council; and British Ambassador Peter Wilson, all of whom delivered insightful speeches addressing the challenges and opportunities in sustainability.
Pingtairong Group, a vital participant and core member of the SMI China Council's Marine and Fisheries Working Group, made its presence felt through Chairman Ni Jianbo's participation in two pivotal sessions. Ni contributed to the global Pathfinder Group's marine fisheries work summary meeting and was a key witness at the unveiling of the flagship initiative, "Building a Blue Economy: China's Path towards Global Ocean Governance." This initiative aims to foster sustainable practices within marine and fisheries sectors, crucial for combating environmental issues and promoting global cooperation.
During a thematic panel dubbed "Resilience and Win-Win in Green Supply Chains," Mr. Ni shared valuable experiences on how to effectively integrate Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standards into corporate operations and supply chains. He also discussed the green transformation of distant-water fisheries and the importance of fostering synergy with marine ecosystems.
Founded in 2007, Pingtairong Group has expanded rapidly, currently employing over 1,800 individuals across diverse sectors such as distant-water fishing, transportation, processing, storage, sales, cold-chain logistics, import/export, shipbuilding, biotech research and development, catering, and petrochemical industries. The group also holds notable leadership roles, serving as the Vice President unit of the China Distant-Water Fisheries Association and as the President unit of the Zhejiang association. Furthermore, Pingtairong has achieved MSC certification for its Pacific high seas tuna project, operating a fleet of longline vessels and an array of ultra-low-temperature carriers capable of operating at an astonishing -60°C.
In an exciting future endeavor, Pingtairong plans to invest approximately RMB 520 million to develop a fishery industrial park in Angola. This project aims to establish a cutting-edge fishing fleet alongside aquaculture initiatives, thereby generating local employment opportunities and securing essential fishing rights for the future. By fostering cooperation between China and Angola, Pingtairong intends to deepen ties across continents, leveraging its integrated supply chain to create a robust cross-border trade platform while enhancing collaboration with Angolan authorities and local partners.
Looking forward, Pingtairong Group is committed to advancing its efforts in China-Africa distant-water fishery cooperation. The organization aims to utilize its extensive advantages along the entire industry chain to establish a thriving cross-border fishery economic and trade cooperation platform. By doing so, Pingtairong seeks to fortify long-term synergies with local governments and industry partners in Angola, ultimately contributing to the seamless connectivity of the maritime economies of both nations.
