Amentum Supports Fukushima Recovery with New Office

On October 21, 2025, Amentum, a global leader in advanced technology and engineering solutions, announced the opening of a new office in Futaba Town, just over a mile from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. This strategic location is set to enhance collaboration with local stakeholders and supply chain companies involved in broader revitalization initiatives in the region.

Lauren Jones, Senior Vice President of Amentum, emphasized during the official opening that this office marks a significant step in the company’s journey in Japan and reflects their strong commitment to supporting the recovery of the Fukushima area. Amentum has extensive expertise in decommissioning obtained from major programs in the UK, Europe, and the United States, including facilities like Sellafield, Hanford, and Oak Ridge. This knowledge will play a crucial role in assisting TEPCO with this important recovery project.

Jones expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "We are honored to contribute to the remarkable revitalization efforts made by Futaba Town, which has made significant progress in recovery and resettlement since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. The newly established infrastructure in Futaba Town is facilitating industrial growth and revitalization of the local community."

The launch of the office at the state-of-the-art F-BICC Futaba Town Industrial Exchange Center was attended by over 40 guests, including Futaba Town Mayor Shiro Izawa and TEPCO's Chief Decommissioning and Contaminated Water Measures Officer Akira Ono. Participants exchanged views on the vision for Futaba's future and the importance of international collaboration.
