Honoring Three Decades of Sports Integrity: The Fair Play Menarini International Award 2026

The Fair Play Menarini International Award is gearing up for its 30th anniversary celebration, commemorating a rich history marked by remarkable stories of athletes who prioritize ethical conduct over the allure of medals. This prestigious award not only recognizes sports excellence but also emphasizes the moral integrity that defines true sportsmanship.

Over the years, the award has gathered a stellar roster of ambassadors, including over 400 legendary athletes such as Zico, Tommie Smith, Casey Stoner, Federica Pellegrini, Ian Thorpe, Fabio Cannavaro, Federica Brignone, Marco Belinelli, and Luis Figo. These icons continue to motivate new generations by promoting noble values in competition.

The festivities kick off in Rome on June 4, 2026, with an official press conference hosted by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), during which the award winners will be announced in the presence of CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio. This event will also see the presentation of the 'Young Athletes' Fair Play Menarini Award, recognizing emerging talents who are already demonstrating a strong commitment to sports ethics.

Subsequently, the main events will pivot to Florence. On June 15, the Special Award 'Fiamme Gialle: Study and Sport' will be bestowed in collaboration with the Sports Group of the Guardia di Finanza and CONI's Tuscan delegation. This award celebrates student-athletes excelling both in academics and sports.

The pinnacle of the award ceremony will be held in July. On July 1, the Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence will host a gala dinner honoring the award winners, followed by the grand awards ceremony on July 2 at the stunning Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

As the 30th edition approaches, the organizers are more motivated than ever to spread the award's message. Luca Lastrucci, Valeria Speroni Cardi, and Filippo Paganelli, members of the Fair Play Menarini Foundation Council, share their enthusiasm: "A glance at the Fair Play Hall of Fame reminds us daily of the extraordinary journey we are part of—a path that celebrates the authentic essence of sports as a true school of life and values."
