St. Thomas Carnival 2025: A Colorful Cultural Extravaganza
The spirit of celebration is set to roar in the U.S. Virgin Islands as the Department of Tourism, in conjunction with the Division of Festivals, announces the official dates for the much-anticipated
2025 St. Thomas Carnival. Scheduled to unfold from
April 27 to May 3, 2025, this year's carnival promises a week filled with lively events that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the islands through food, music, and vibrant festivities.
A Fun-Filled Program
The
73rd annual St. Thomas Carnival is a testament to the island’s commitment to preserving its cultural legacy. This grand celebration will feature traditional activities like the
Queen and Princess Pageants, the
Calypso Monarch competition, and
Pan-O-Rama. One of the highlights of the carnival is the renowned
J'ouvert, an early morning street party that invites everyone to let loose and join the revelry.
On the penultimate day of the carnival, the streets of
Charlotte Amalie will come alive with a spectacular parade, showcasing thousands of masqueraders dressed in eye-catching costumes. These colorful outfits, combined with the melodious sounds of
soca and local Virgin Islands bands, create an infectious atmosphere that draws locals and tourists alike.
Inviting Everyone for the Festivities
Joseph Boschulte, Commissioner of Tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands, enthusiastically extends an invitation to everyone—whether from neighboring islands, the mainland U.S., or even the diaspora around the world. "St. Thomas Carnival is growing in size and notoriety, and this year we’re poised to host a rejuvenating celebration that spotlights our beautiful island, rich culture, and charming inhabitants," Boschulte expressed.
A Carnival for All Senses
Visitors can anticipate an array of captivating events and experiences throughout the week. The carnival village will be bursting with
free nightly musical performances featuring renowned local, regional, and international artists. Revelers can indulge in
St. Thomas Carnival Boat Races, savor mouthwatering local cuisine, and explore arts and crafts from local vendors during the
Food Fair.
The carnival not only serves as a platform to showcase local talent but also symbolizes unity and joy among the community. It is a time when everyone gathers to celebrate their shared heritage and create lasting memories.
Your Gateway to the U.S. Virgin Islands
For those planning to join in the fun, the U.S. Virgin Islands, nestled about
40 miles east of Puerto Rico, offers breathtaking scenery and an abundance of leisure activities. This beautiful territory includes three islands:
St. Croix,
St. John, and
St. Thomas, with Charlotte Amalie serving as the capital. Visitors can enjoy pristine beaches, water sports, European architectural influences, and a vibrant dining scene—making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and cultural immersion.
U.S. citizens traveling from the mainland or Puerto Rico won't need passports, demonstrating how easy it is to experience this extraordinary celebration. However, non-U.S. citizens will be required to present a passport upon departure.
