MUSVI Unveils New Feature 'On-Site Live View Powered by Safie' for Enhanced Remote Communication in Construction

Introduction

MUSVI Inc., headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has recently announced a significant enhancement to its telepresence system, known as "Mado" (窓). This new feature, called "On-Site Live View powered by Safie," aims to elevate remote communication and site management in the construction sector. This functionality will be available starting this summer and is developed in collaboration with Safie Inc., also based in Shinagawa, Tokyo. The integration allows construction teams to enjoy immersive communication while monitoring real-time visual feeds from Safie's cloud-based cameras installed at construction sites.

1. Background of 'Mado'

For over 20 years, MUSVI's telepresence system, Mado, has been built upon technical innovations from Sony Group Corporation. The system has found applications across various industries, including construction, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing, with construction accounting for about 30% of its usage.

The construction industry is facing challenges from the increasing scale of projects, leading to a greater number of stakeholders and complex multi-tiered structures. As work becomes more specialized, demands for safety and quality continue to rise. The pressures emanating from the “2024 problem,” which involves work style reforms, are contributing to a decrease in available resources at construction sites, making effective management more challenging than ever.

Enhancing productivity on the job site is a pivotal concern. MUSVI believes it is crucial to create an environment where project teams can focus on their operational tasks rather than administrative burdens. Often, insufficient situational awareness forces personnel to travel unnecessarily, making automated solutions difficult to implement due to factors like weather and schedule changes. Consequently, it is vital for project stakeholders to accurately perceive site conditions from remote locations and to be able to consult and make decisions using shared real-time information.

The deployment of cloud cameras as a tool for understanding the site remotely is becoming increasingly popular, with Safie's cloud camera holding a remarkable 54.3% market share in cloud recording services. Safie’s systems are utilized by all of the top 20 construction companies based on sales. The newly released feature, “On-Site Live View powered by Safie,” combines the human element of communication through Mado with visual information from Safie's cameras, facilitating remote verification and management of worksite activities.

2. Overview of 'On-Site Live View powered by Safie'

"On-Site Live View powered by Safie" has been developed in response to feedback and needs collected during Proof-of-Concept (PoC) phases from clients in the construction industry. This feature allows for real-time display of up to six camera feeds on the Mado system. It is particularly useful for site managers handling multiple projects remotely, enabling them to see live footage from various locations and interact with on-site staff without needing to move from their current location.

In practice, this means that a site manager can observe live feeds from multiple job sites and communicate directly with team members, facilitating quick decisions, problem detection, and reducing the logistical burdens usually associated with site visits.

Key Features and Usage Conditions

  • - Real-Time Display: Displays feeds from Safie's cameras on Mado in real-time.
  • - Flexible Layout: Users can adjust the layout as needed.
  • - Display Capacity: Up to six video feeds can be displayed simultaneously, specifically on the configured Mado system.
  • - Use Cases: Aids in understanding multiple job sites without physical relocation.
  • - Supported Models: Compatible with Mado Type S, Type L, and Type C systems.
  • - Required Equipment: Includes Mado and Safie cloud cameras with a necessary dedicated option.

For pricing and inquiries, potential users can contact MUSVI or their appointed distributors. Note that network and operational environment checks may be necessary, with a wired LAN connection recommended for optimal performance.

3. Adoption by Major Contractors

The Mado system has been adopted widely within the construction sector, already deployed at many sites by several major contractors. Connection opportunities within construction, among site offices, main offices, subcontractors, design teams, and multiple job sites, are numerous. MUSVI is organizing these various applications into five distinct solutions tailored to address specific challenges in the industry through Mado.

These five solutions help alleviate challenges related to movement restrictions, foster unity within the site, manage multiple project locations, support operations from headquarters, and enhance collaboration with external partners. By introducing the "On-Site Live View powered by Safie," MUSVI fortifies the value of these solutions, expanding the potential use cases where Mado can deliver maximum benefit.

4. Presentation at the 8th International Construction and Surveying Exhibition (CSPI2026)

The new feature will be showcased for the first time at the upcoming "8th International Construction and Surveying Exhibition (CSPI2026)" scheduled from June 17 to 20, 2026. Attendees are encouraged to visit Safie's booth to witness demos of the new functionality.

Event Details

  • - Dates: June 17 (Wednesday) - June 20 (Saturday), 2026; all days from 10 AM to 5 PM (16 PM on the last day).
  • - Location: Makuhari Messe, Exhibitions Halls 1-8.
  • - Booth: Safie Booth (Hall 5, Small Number: 15-01).

MUSVI is committed to enhancing the value of Mado through ongoing improvements driven by user feedback and building upon partnerships with Safie and other companion companies, thereby expanding the deployment of communication systems that support construction work.
