Kazushige Kuboki Visits JPF Headquarters
On a recent visit to the headquarters of JPF, located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, champion cyclist Kazushige Kuboki conveyed his enthusiasm for the upcoming 2025 World Championships. Kuboki, who secured a gold medal in the scratch event at the World Championships and is also making strides in keirin and road racing, will be joining forces with JPF under a new support contract starting in the 2025 season.
During his visit, Kuboki met with JPF President Shuntaro Watanabe, expressing his confidence in his upcoming performance:
“Over the past four years, I have consistently delivered results at the World Championships, and I have really honed my conditioning techniques. However, this year, there’s only one World Cup event before the Championships, which leaves some uncertainty regarding the competition and the condition of other athletes. Despite this, I feel great about my progress and am eager to race.”
Kuboki is set to participate in team pursuit, omnium, and Madison events, with a particular focus on clinching the gold medal in the omnium category. Although he mentioned experiencing some injuries, his focus and excitement are palpable:
“I’m putting in a lot of concentration, so I hope you all stay tuned for the competition.”
The World Cycling Championships will take place from October 22 to 26, 2025, in Santiago, Chile. Support for Kuboki and the Japanese national team will be crucial as they prepare to stake their claim on the world stage.
JPF Scholarship Program
In addition to his racing commitments, Kuboki has taken on the role of ambassador for the JPF Scholarship Program, which will commence in 2025. This initiative aims to support student-athletes in balancing their academic pursuits alongside their dedication to cycling, all while laying the groundwork for their future careers.
Currently, three university student cyclists are benefitting from the JPF Scholarship, working diligently towards their individual goals. The presence of a high-caliber athlete like Kuboki serves as a significant inspiration for these students, motivating them to persist in their endeavors. Enrollment for the second phase of the scholarship program is currently open.
