Chinese Standards Make Global Impact: XCMG's Role in Advancing International Crane Regulations
Chinese Standards Make Global Impact
In a significant showcasing of international collaboration, the recent meetings of the Technical Committee for Cranes (ISO/TC96) held in Frankfurt brought together over 100 delegates from 16 member countries, including China, Germany, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Finland, and Japan. The focus of these discussions was the future of international crane standards, a vital framework for ensuring safety and efficiency in the crane industry.
Among the key figures at this gathering was Shan Zenghai, Vice President and Chief Engineer of XCMG, who led the technical expert team representing China. The meeting served as a platform for developing several important standards initiatives crucial to the operational safety and inspection protocols of mobile cranes.
Prior to the sessions, the Chinese delegation coordinated technical proposals and set priorities across key working groups. This strategic preparation allowed the delegates to make impactful contributions during discussions centered on crane safety, inspections, and operations. Notably, Shan Zenghai, in his role as convenor for the working group on “Safe Use of Mobile Cranes,” reported on the progress of ISO 12480-2, which focuses on the safe use of mobile cranes—a standard originally led by China. The project has reached the stage of drafting an international standard (DIS), showcasing significant momentum in the initiative.
Additionally, the XCMG experts also proposed a new work item for ISO 9927-2, concerning inspections of mobile cranes. This proposal garnered considerable interest from international experts present. In tandem, the XCMG team pushed forward amendments to ISO 9927-1, a general standard for crane testing, thereby taking responsibility for multiple international standards projects. Through these contributions, the team demonstrates China's commitment to advancing the next generation of crane technologies, solidifying its technical expertise on the world stage.
During the meeting, progress was also reported on 14 international crane standards that have either been led or revised by China. Furthermore, two new international proposals were submitted, with an additional six international standardization projects conducted under Chinese leadership. These advancements underscore China’s enhanced role in international crane standardization and its establishment as a pivotal global hub for crane manufacturing.
As the third-largest construction machinery manufacturer in the world, XCMG has played a crucial role in developing over ten international standards. From exporting products to actively shaping global regulations, XCMG continues to champion the progress of Chinese manufacturing within the global industrial value chain. Moreover, this engagement supports technological innovation and modernization across the entire construction machinery sector.
In conclusion, the active participation and leadership demonstrated by XCMG at these international meetings highlight the growing influence of Chinese standards on the global stage. With continued commitment to collaboration and innovation, XCMG is well-positioned to foster advancements that enhance safety and efficiency within the crane industry worldwide.
