Exploring Career Opportunities for Teens Through Job EX in Tokyo

In Tokyo, the initiative known as the Child Smile Movement aims to create a society that prioritizes children's happiness by fostering collaboration among companies, NGOs, schools, and local governments. One integral part of this movement is the Job EX project, which matches middle and high school students with companies and organizations offering career experience programs.

This year, Job EX will facilitate career explorations at a diverse range of 82 companies and organizations, from established corporations to startups. These programs are designed to give students a glimpse into various professions while they actively engage in hands-on experiences that could ultimately shape their future career choices.

Participating Companies and Scheduled Events

1. BEAMS Inc.

• - Date: August 4 (Tuesday), from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
• - Location: Jingu-mae Tower Building, 1-5-8 Jingu-mae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
• - Experience Overview: Students interested in fashion will engage in a program titled “Transforming What You Want to Convey: The Intersection of Fashion and Digital Expression.” This session allows participants to learn about the creative work involved in the fashion industry at BEAMS, deepen their understanding of the company through presentations, and receive styling guidance from experienced consultants.
• - Participants: 10 middle and high school students.

2. New Japan Pro-Wrestling Co., Ltd.

• - Date: Day 1 - August 5 (Wednesday) from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM, Day 2 - August 6 (Thursday) from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
• - Location: Day 1 - New Japan Pro-Wrestling Office, 1-38-1 Chuo, Nakano-ku, Tokyo; Day 2 - Korakuen Hall, 1-3-61 Korakuen, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.
• - Experience Overview: Under the title “Experience the World of Professional Wrestling,” students will learn about the operations of the pro-wrestling industry, exploring roles within the sports and entertainment fields. They will engage in practical event management at a live venue and propose ways to attract and engage teenage fans.
• - Participants: 7 middle and high school students.

3. Hanayashiki Co., Ltd.

• - Date: Day 1 - August 13 (Thursday) from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM; Day 2 - August 14 (Friday) from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
• - Location: Asakusa Hanayashiki, 2-28-1 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
• - Experience Overview: Titled “Hospitality and Idea Proposal at Japan's Oldest Amusement Park: Aiming for 200 Years of Operation,” students will learn about customer service and park operations while they assist in welcoming guests. They will also have the opportunity to share ideas on how to keep the park's legacy alive through practical learning experiences.
• - Participants: 10 middle and high school students.

Previous Year’s Results

Last year, 355 students participated in career experiences provided by 40 companies and organizations. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing how these real job experiences inspired them to think about their future careers and ignited their willingness to take on challenges that can’t be replicated in a school environment.

Interview Guidelines

For those interested in covering these events, please ensure to fill out the Interview Application Form and submit it via email at least two business days prior to the scheduled program date. Note that there are restrictions on video equipment and photography based on venue limitations.

• - Equipment Restrictions: One filming device per media outlet and one photographer per company, please.
• - Registration: Detailed information regarding the location and registration times will be sent to those who apply.
