GQ Creativity Awards 2025: A Celebration of Creative Minds

Among the winners is
Motoki Omori, the frontman of the popular band
Mrs. GREEN APPLE. Born in 1996, he is not just a musician but a multifaceted artist involved in songwriting, composing, and even art direction for his band's music videos. Omori's recent ventures include his role in the film
#TruthWillBeTold and his upcoming performance in the NHK morning drama
Anpan. His creative vision continues to captivate audiences, illustrating a blend of artistry and emotion that resonates deeply within the music industry.
Another award recipient, the artist duo
GILLOCHINDOX ☆ GILLOCHINDAE, known for their conceptual storytelling through art, captures urban youth experiences. Founded in Tokyo in 1999, their long-term project
JYU highlights their dedication to exploring complexities in life through a creative lens. This May, they will showcase their work in the
NADA New York 2025 art fair, representing a significant milestone in their artistic journey.
The architectural collective
GROUP, consisting of talents such as
Taku Inoue,
Naoki Saito,
Yuri Nakai,
Kumiko Nazuta, and
Ken Akatsuka, are also among the distinguished awardees. They challenge traditional perspectives on urban development, turning architectural processes into expressive art projects. Their notable works include the
Ebina Art Expressway and contributions to the ongoing Osaka-Kansai Expo, where they designed
Toilet 1: Dream Island Garden. Their innovative approaches elevate architecture to a new level of artistic expression.
Asako Fujikura, an artist born in 1992 in Saitama, is celebrated for her 3D CGI animation art. After completing her studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Fujikura has made a name for herself with captivating urban landscapes. In May, she will be part of the Japanese Pavilion at the
19th Venice Biennale, collaborating with architect
Takahiro Omura to present her unique vision to an international audience.
Lastly, ceramic artist
Masaomi Yasunaga, born in Osaka in 1982, has been celebrated for his distinct methods that utilize glazes on various mediums. His works have been featured in prestigious exhibitions, such as the
Email and Body show at the Ginza Maison Hermès Forum and an upcoming display at the
Shanghai Biennale this fall. Yasunaga's craft harmonizes tradition with modern aesthetics, contributing significantly to the global ceramic art scene.
Upcoming Event: GQ JAPAN Creative Weekend
In addition to the awards, GQ JAPAN will host the
GQ JAPAN Creative Weekend on July 5 and 6, 2025, at
Ginza Sony Park. This special two-day event will display the masterpieces of the five award winners, encouraging engagement and interaction with their artworks. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience diverse creative expressions that stimulate all senses.
