National Matching Events to Address Transportation Gaps



In an effort to tackle the ongoing issue of "transportation gaps" within Japan, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is set to launch a series of matching events across nine cities. These events aim to bridge the divide between municipalities, transportation operators, and private sector businesses, leveraging the diverse expertise and technologies available among participants.

Background and Purpose



Transportation gaps refer to the areas that are underserved or lacking in adequate transportation infrastructure. This initiative is directed towards addressing these issues, whereby the public and private sectors can collaborate to find innovative solutions and foster growth in regional transportation networks. The upcoming national matching events will provide a platform for networking, discussions, and collaboration, which will be instrumental in alleviating the transportation challenges faced by numerous regions.

2. Kumamoto - September 14, 2023, at Kumamoto Castle Hall

4. Okayama - October 2, 2023, at Okayama Convention Center
5. Sapporo - October 15, 2023, at TKP Garden City Premium Sapporo
6. Osaka - October 22, 2023, at Congres Convention Center
7. Sendai - November 5, 2023, at Sun Festa
8. Matsuyama - November 12, 2023, at IyoTetsu Takashimaya Rose Hall
9. Tokyo - November 24, 2023, at Ochanomizu Soracity Conference Center

Each session is expected to run from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, featuring a structured program that includes opening remarks, a presentation from the organizing committee, and various matching and networking activities. Direct dialogues between participants and mini-pitches from willing participants will be facilitated to encourage collaboration.

Participation Criteria



The events are exclusively open to members of the "Transportation Gap Resolution – Public-Private Partnership Platform." Interested members must register in advance, although participation is free of charge. However, attendees will be responsible for covering their own travel expenses to the venues.
