SMILE CUP Charity Event Raises Funds for Noto Peninsula Earthquake Relief

SMILE CUP Charity Event: A Decade of Community Support

In a remarkable display of solidarity, the charity futsal event SMILE CUP continues to make a positive impact for its 11th year in 2025. Organized by GOOD PLACE, a Tokyo-based construction company focused on creating versatile spaces, this event has grown immensely since its inception in 2014, now attracting a diverse range of 16 participating companies dedicated to urban development and community sustenance.

A Commitment to Revival

The SMILE CUP serves a dual purpose: promoting camaraderie among businesses engaged in urban and spatial development while simultaneously generating support for those affected by disasters. This year, the event played a crucial role in channeling its funds toward recovery efforts from the Noto Peninsula earthquake, which struck on January 1, 2024. GOOD PLACE announced that a total of 200,000 yen would be donated to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake Soccer Family Recovery Fund. This fund is specifically aimed at restoring the ability of soccer families affected by the disaster to enjoy playing and participating in sports once again.

The contribution comprised two donations: one of 100,000 yen following the July event (Vol.15) on September 26, 2025, and another 100,000 yen from the November gathering (Vol.16) that was completed on January 13, 2026.

The Spirit of SMILE CUP

The SMILE CUP is not just about sports; it embodies the idea of bringing together various companies that typically work in isolation toward a common goal: improving living environments. The objective is simple yet profound: to spread smiles (hence the name) through collaborative efforts in rebuilding and supporting communities. Each year, this initiative fosters new relationships, sparking innovative projects and partnerships.

GOOD PLACE: A Vision for Better Spaces

Founded in 1990, GOOD PLACE (formerly Cosmosmore) specializes in renovation and construction, aiming to create better working and gathering spaces. It became a part of the Daiwa House Industry Group in 2013. The company's mission, articulated as “Make a GOOD PLACE,” drives its various service offerings, including office solutions and architectural designs.

In January 2024, GOOD PLACE rebranded itself to better reflect its core values and mission in the community and construction industries. The legitimacy and accountability established through SMILE CUP and its charitable donations embody the very essence of GOOD PLACE’s philosophy.

As communities continue to navigate the aftermath of natural disasters, initiatives like the SMILE CUP play an instrumental role in reviving the spirit of support and recovery. GOOD PLACE reaffirms its commitment to these values, creating opportunities for collaboration and ensuring that every soccer family in the Noto Peninsula has the means to once again embrace the sport they love.
