Cary Oil Completes Major Acquisitions to Expand Operations
Cary Oil, a prominent player in the fuel distribution industry, recently announced two significant acquisitions that will enhance its operations in the Midwest and Southeast regions. The first deal, finalized on February 19, 2025, involves over 90 branded contracts in the Midwest, primarily in Indiana, with additional contracts in Illinois and Kentucky. This acquisition stems from Ricker Oil/Giant Eagle, a well-known fuel marketer noted for its solid retail partnerships and regional influence. The inclusion of key personnel from Ricker Oil, Kristina Castor, and Brian Dyke, into the Cary Oil family is also part of this acquisition, adding invaluable experience to the team.
On June 26, 2025, Cary Oil took another significant step forward by acquiring branded contracts from McGinnis Oil, which operates eight Shell retailers in the Memphis, Tennessee area. This family-owned business is revered for its community connections and operational excellence. By acquiring McGinnis Oil, Cary Oil reinforces its commitment to collaborating with independent operators in burgeoning markets like the Southeast.
R. Mark Maddox, President and CEO of Cary Oil, stated, “These acquisitions signify a crucial advancement in our long-term growth strategy. We are honored to uphold the legacies of Ricker Oil/Giant Eagle and McGinnis Oil, and we eagerly welcome their customers and partners into the Cary Oil family. These transactions go beyond mere business; they embody our commitment to establish long-lasting relationships and to share the Cary Oil way with new communities.”
Both Ricker Oil and McGinnis Oil share Cary Oil's core values of integrity, superior customer service, and fostering long-term partnerships. Consequently, these acquisitions are seen as a natural fit. The locations acquired will gain access to Cary Oil's branded initiatives, logistical expertise, and robust support framework aimed at ensuring that retailers can thrive in the competitive landscape.
Following these acquisitions, Cary Oil now boasts a total of approximately 1,000 independently owned convenience retail locations under its branding. Maddox emphasized, “Our capability to undertake acquisitions such as these is a reflection of the financial vigor we have cultivated over the years. More importantly, it’s all about trust. We deeply honor the family-owned businesses that rely on us to uphold their legacies, and we work diligently to ensure a smooth transition for their customers and communities.”
Cary Oil has built a strong reputation since its inception in 1959, focusing on delivering exceptional service, top-quality products, and innovative solutions. The company has managed to earn the trust of its clients across twenty-one states, distributing nearly a billion gallons of fuel annually while positioning itself as a leader in refined fuel marketing.
