Overview of the Summer Government Visits for National Public Service Exam 2026
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan has announced that, in line with the agreement from Chief Human Resource Officers across various government ministries, Summer Government Visits will be conducted for candidates who have passed the National Public Service Exam for Comprehensive Positions. This initiative targets eligible applicants from the 2026 National Public Service Exam, as well as those who passed the exams in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Eligibility Requirements
The eligibility requirements for potential candidates include:
- - Successful candidates from the National Public Service Comprehensive Exam for Graduate and University Levels in 2026.
- - Those who passed the exams in the preceding years (2023, 2024, and 2025) are also eligible, with a focus on various technical fields such as Digital Technology, Engineering, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Natural Sciences including Chemistry, Biology, and Agricultural Sciences.
New this year, candidates from the liberal arts category are welcomed to apply within the technical positions category.
Application Process
To complete your entry in the Summer Government Visits, applicants must submit an entry form and upload a visitor memo. Applicants will receive specific details regarding the visit via the email provided during registration. Here’s how to go about the application process:

Register Required Information:
Use the provided link to fill out the applicant information form, which will be available starting from 9:00 AM on June 1.

Create Visitor Memo:
Download the provided template for the visitor memo and draft your memo accordingly. The memo template can be found using the linked resource.
3.
Upload Visitor Memo:
After creating your visitor memo, upload it using the designated URL. Ensure to name the file following the structure: `Name_VisitorMemo` (for example: `TanakaTaro_VisitorMemo`). You must upload both PDF and Excel formats for your memo.
Submission Deadline
The application deadline is June 8, by 11:59 PM. After this deadline, inquiries can be made at the designated contact points. If there has been no response by noon on June 9, candidates are advised to call the office directly.
Important Guidelines
Candidates should not book the same preferred date across multiple ministries. Each participant can reserve only one date. While efforts will be made to accommodate preferred visit dates, candidates may be asked to select an alternative date if their first choice is already full. Note that late applications will generally not be accepted beyond the designated period.
Participation Format
Round One (June 10 - June 12)
The first round can be conducted either in person or online. For those preferring to attend online, it is necessary to select this option during registration. Specific details will be sent to participants afterwards.
Online Participation Guidelines:
- - Participants must prepare an environment suitable for using Zoom.
- - There will be a system environment check conducted on the day of the event, and separate communications will be sent to those opting for online participation.
- - Please ensure to join from a location with a stable internet connection.
- - The cost for internet usage during participation is the responsibility of the applicants.
Subsequent Rounds (Starting June 15)
From the second round onwards, the visits will continue to be offered in person or online, with additional information to be shared during the first round.
