Introduction to OWL
On May 1, 2026, OWL Co., Ltd. was established in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, following the acquisition of the forest 3D measurement system "OWL" from Ad-In Institute. With Keiko Shiozawa as the President, the company aims to unlock new values in forest resources through innovative measurement technology and data analysis.
Company Mission
The core mission of OWL is to visualize forests as information, thereby creating new values within them. This encompasses a variety of services including:
1. Development, manufacturing, and maintenance of the OWL 3D measurement system.
2. Measurement, analysis, and provision of information related to forests and other environmental resources.
3. Collection, analysis, and processing of point cloud data, geospatial information, and other various datasets.
4. Planning, development, and operation of cloud services and application software.
5. Developing and providing various measurement devices and analytical instruments.
6. Consulting and research services related to forestry.
What is the OWL 3D Measurement System?
The OWL system is a portable laser measurement device specifically designed for capturing tree data, integrated with software for data processing. When the device is used in forested or park areas, it collects 3D point cloud data of the environment using lasers, while also capturing images with a 360° camera. This data enables users to extract vital information regarding tree location, diameter, height, and more, presenting these details in accessible formats such as 2D location maps or 3D tree walkthroughs.
This information can be exported as CSV or Shapefile formats, facilitating the creation of survey reports or applications for forestry management through GIS applications.
Product Overview
The OWL system plays a crucial role in forestry and environmental management. It assists organizations like the Forestry Agency and local governments in developing effective forest management strategies. By relying on this advanced technology, stakeholders can make informed decisions based on accurate data.
