OPAQUE Introduces the AgenTrust Fellowship



OPAQUE, a leader in Confidential AI, has announced the opening of applications for its inaugural AgenTrust Fellowship. This program, commencing on August 1, aims to bring together engineers, researchers, and governance professionals dedicated to shaping open standards for verifiable AI agents.

Overview of the Fellowship


The AgenTrust Fellowship is a six-month, paid, part-time position that requires fellows to commit approximately 20 hours per week. The selected individuals will be working closely with OPAQUE's Chief Platform Officer, Imran Siddique, who is also the creator of the Agent Governance Toolkit (AGT). This collaboration will provide fellows the unique chance to contribute to the development of an open ecosystem designed for trustworthy AI deployment.

The fellowship is structured to include three to five participants in its first cohort, set to start in September 2026. Importantly, candidates will not need to leave their current jobs to participate, allowing them to continue their professional engagements while contributing to the AgenTrust ecosystem.

The Need for Open Standards


As AI technologies increasingly become integral to enterprise processes, the demand for open standards that ensure reliability and security in AI deployment grows. Current challenges faced by enterprises revolve around ensuring AI agents act in accordance with established policies once deployed. According to Imran Siddique, this issue is not about product limitations but rather a failure in establishing universal standards. The AgenTrust Fellowship strives to address this gap, fostering a community aimed at building common verification protocols and identities that can be universally applied across industries.

Areas of Focus


Fellows will engage in various facets of AI governance throughout their tenure, exploring critical areas such as:
  • - Establishing verifiable identity criteria for AI agents.
  • - Ensuring that sensitive data and models remain secure during execution.
  • - Creating cryptographic mechanisms enabling independent verification of AI system behaviors.

This initiative builds upon the momentum generated by the AGT, which has garnered significant recognition within the tech community, evidenced by nearly 5,000 stars on GitHub. Participants will have direct input into open-source projects like TRACE and the Agent Manifest, working on projects that ensure the secure and compliant operation of AI agents in regulated environments.

Eligibility and Application


The fellowship is aimed at individuals with a strong background in security engineering, distributed systems research, and AI governance. Those pursuing Ph.D. studies with an interest in shaping AI governance frameworks are particularly encouraged to apply. Each fellow will benefit from mentorship by Imran Siddique, along with opportunities to create valuable public documentation of their findings and innovations—ranging from research papers to engineering blogs.

Important Dates: Applications for the AgenTrust Fellowship will close on August 29, with selections made based on a technical proposal that outlines the prospective contributions to the AgenTrust ecosystem.
