Beltone's Powerful Push for Hearing Awareness in Better Hearing Month
In celebration of Better Hearing Month, Beltone has taken proactive steps to underline the critical importance of annual hearing screenings. During a recent media tour, their Director of Patient Experience and Audiologist, MJ DeSousa, stressed the importance of safe listening practices and the latest advancements in hearing technology. This initiative is part of Beltone's ongoing effort to reduce the stigma often associated with using hearing aids, thereby encouraging open conversations about hearing health.
Throughout May, audiences are encouraged to embrace the opportunity for free hearing screenings at their local Beltone locations. DeSousa’s engaging discussion also focused on methods to protect one’s hearing and how early detection can pave the way for timely treatments.
Hearing Aid Giveaway
In conjunction with this awareness month, Beltone is excited to announce its second annual hearing aid giveaway. Between now and May 31, individuals who require improved hearing can nominate themselves or others for a chance to win a complimentary set of Beltone hearing aids. To qualify, nominators need to undergo a free hearing screening at a participating Beltone location and demonstrate a minimum hearing loss of 25 dB. A total of 31 hearing aids will be distributed—one for each day of May—through the charitable efforts of the Beltone Hearing Care Foundation, recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Why Regular Screenings Are Crucial
Regular hearing screenings are not merely a suggestion; they are essential for several reasons:
1.
Early Detection: Regular assessments can identify hearing loss at its nascent stages, allowing for timely interventions and access to treatments like hearing aids.
2.
Stigma Reduction: By initiating dialogues around hearing care, screenings encourage a welcoming environment where individuals can seek assistance without fear of being judged.
3.
Cognitive Health: Untreated hearing loss has been linked to cognitive decline, raising the risk of conditions such as dementia. Regular screenings can help maintain cognitive function and improve mental health as one ages.
4.
Improved Quality of Life: Enhanced hearing capabilities lead to more vibrant interactions, better participation in social settings, and stronger relationships with loved ones. As a result, this fosters emotional health and diminishes feelings of isolation.
