AI Storm and MCEI Tokyo Collaborate on Advanced AI Utilization Workshop Series

AI Storm and MCEI Tokyo: Second AI Utilization Workshop Held

AI Storm Co., Ltd. (formerly Jexceed), headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is excited to announce the second session of its "AI Utilization Consultation Workshop" series, developed in collaboration with the Non-Profit Organization MCEI Tokyo. The event took place on June 26, 2026, following up on the first workshop held in April of the same year.

From Problem Identification to Actionable Solutions

This workshop series was created to directly address the common challenges faced by companies when implementing AI in their operations, such as uncertainty about where to start or difficulties in making Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives succeed. The first workshop focused on understanding the pressing issues at hand, with an emphasis on turning abstract ideas about AI into concrete business outcomes. Moving into the second session, the focus shifted to applying identified issues to specific management concerns and designing actionable measures.

The expert advisory team for this event included CEO Toshio Imai and Chief Data Scientist Hiroyuki Shindo from AI Storm. Shindo, who earned a doctorate in engineering from Nara Institute of Science and Technology, has successfully led numerous AI and digital transformation projects in various industries, providing both technical and strategic insights into the challenges faced by participating companies.

Addressing the Recruitment Challenge in SMEs

A major theme for this second workshop was the prevalent hiring challenges confronted by many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The logistics and transportation sector serves as a prime example, with more than 90% of trucking companies classified as SMEs. Additionally, starting from April 2024, new regulations will impose a cap of 960 hours on overtime for truck drivers. According to calculations by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, failure to take measures could result in a terrifying 14% shortfall in transport capacity in 2024 and up to 34% by 2030.

In this environment of labor shortages, many SMEs are stuck at a standstill, wanting to strengthen their recruitment efforts but unsure where or how to make effective changes to attract candidates. Despite posting job openings on various platforms, the generic conditions typically offered fail to distinguish them from competitors, presenting a significant barrier that SMEs across various sectors in Japan currently face.

Actionable Strategies: Designing Recruitment Processes without Over-Reliance on AI

During the workshop, the advisory team worked closely with participating companies to address their recruitment challenges. They emphasized that AI excels in data gathering and analysis. For instance, creating a system to gather and analyze job postings and successful recruitment strategies across industries in real-time can uncover appealing recruitment angles that companies might otherwise overlook.

However, they advised a cautious approach regarding letting AI generate job advertisements from scratch. Often, AI-generated content can lack factual support and may not pass the reviews mandated by job boards. Salary details, work conditions, and testimonies from current employees are essential human elements that AI cannot produce. The emphasis is on using AI to organize and refine insights obtained through thorough data collection, rather than relying on it to create initial content.

The workshop shifted the discussion from the abstract potential of AI to concrete strategies that start with measurable outcomes, such as the number of applicants, effectively connecting AI usage directly to business results. This made the event a practical validation of first-round theories in the context of actual business challenges.

Looking Ahead

The final workshop session in the series will focus on reviewing the implementation outcomes and formulating improvement plans, entering the "execution and improvement phase." This workshop aims to provide comprehensive support from problem identification to design and ultimately execution. The findings from the second round will be put into practice and validated in the upcoming event, helping participants to enhance their AI applications effectively.

AI utilization is not reserved solely for large corporations; with the right strategies, even SMEs facing labor shortages can leverage AI to achieve tangible benefits. AI Storm is committed to supporting individual companies to elevate their AI implementation, contributing to their growth and ultimately enhancing Japan's competitiveness through solving various on-ground challenges one step at a time.
