KBRO Partners with Harmonic to Transform Broadband Infrastructure with Fiber-on-Demand Technology

KBRO and Harmonic: A New Era in Broadband Connectivity

In a significant move for Taiwan's broadband landscape, KBRO, one of the leading multiple-system operators, has partnered with Harmonic to upgrade its broadband access network. The collaboration focuses on deploying Harmonic's innovative fiber-on-demand solution, aligning perfectly with KBRO's strategy to modernize its network infrastructure and meet rising consumer demands. This strategic enhancement is set to provide multi-gigabit broadband services across KBRO's expansive service area.

Harmonic's fiber-on-demand technology is hosted on its state-of-the-art cOS™ platform, paving the way for efficient service delivery while ensuring a robust connection quality. Understanding the growing need for high-speed internet in today's digital age, KBRO is leveraging this technology to seamlessly integrate fiber into its existing infrastructure, which currently includes DOCSIS high-split networks. This integration not only improves service quality but also augments the capabilities of KBRO's existing networks, fostering an advanced and flexible architecture for future advancements.

"The future of broadband in Taiwan is firmly rooted in fiber-deep innovation and adaptability, and our partnership with Harmonic is key to realizing this vision," commented PK Lee, Vice President of Engineering at KBRO. He emphasized the company's commitment to providing unparalleled broadband experiences while maintaining responsible investment practices. The ability to deploy fiber according to direct consumer demand will enhance service availability significantly, positioning KBRO at the forefront of broadband achievement in Taiwan.

The introduction of Harmonic's fiber-on-demand solution enables KBRO to activate advanced fiber services efficiently from already-installed Oyster Remote-PHY nodes. This innovation reduces unnecessary infrastructural costs by aligning network extension closely with revenue opportunities, thereby ensuring cost-effective upgrades. Additionally, it allows KBRO to migrate to XGS-PON technology, offering economically viable multi-gigabit speeds that expand the network's overall capacity.

As global competition in the broadband sector intensifies, KBRO continues to assert its leadership through thoughtful infrastructure enhancements. Jeffrey Glahn, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Harmonic, remarked on KBRO's proactive approach, stating, "KBRO is setting a benchmark in advancing broadband infrastructure amid a competitive market. Our objective is simple: provide service providers with a clear, efficient expansion strategy for fiber. Their decision to integrate our fiber-on-demand architecture showcases our growing footprint in global efforts to modernize fiber networks."

The cOS platform, a hallmark of Harmonic’s technology, has already transformed broadband service across nearly 41 million Consumer Premise Equipment (CPE) units globally, including regions in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. KBRO’s partnership embodies a significant leap toward technologically advanced networking solutions, redefining the essence of broadband access.

This technology shift represents not just an upgrade in infrastructure but a commitment to enhancing the user experience and meeting the dynamic needs of consumers. As such, the KBRO and Harmonic partnership is set to influence how broadband is experienced across Taiwan, marking the beginning of a new chapter in high-speed internet services, one that promises to be faster, more reliable, and accessible to all.
