Centers Health Care's Annual Program Promotes Movement and Community Engagement
Third Annual "Care That Moves You" Program
This summer, Centers Health Care celebrated the third annual "Care That Moves You" program, a vital initiative aimed at promoting wellness through movement among its residents, staff, and the surrounding communities. Running throughout August, this program is centered on creating fun and engaging opportunities for people of all ages to stay active and connected. The success of this year’s program, which saw participation from over 1,000 individuals across 45 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, marked a notable increase compared to previous years.
Embracing Movement
As Kenny Rozenberg, the CEO of Centers Health Care, emphasized, movement plays a crucial role in maintaining good health, especially for seniors. The commitment to promoting physical activity within the health system has resulted in substantial improvements in residents' mobility and overall well-being. Rozenberg shared, “Our initiative delivers meaningful improvements in mobility and empowers our staff and residents to stay vibrant and engaged.”
Throughout the summer, various activities were organized to cater to all ability levels. Events included silent disco parties, chair bowling, and a diverse range of Field Day-themed games, which encouraged social interaction and physical activity. One of the highlights was the appearance of the health system's mascot, Gavin the Goat, who brought joy and excitement to these events.
Care That Moves You Day
The culmination of the summer festivities came on August 20, 2025, coinciding with National Senior Citizens Day. This day was dedicated to celebrating the achievements and contributions of the senior community, with multiple events across facilities. Local media outlets widely covered these celebrations, showcasing segments like “Luau Helps Get Carthage Senior Citizens Moving” and “Movin' Groovin' at the Corning Center's Celebration.” This extensive coverage not only highlighted the fun activities but also the vibrancy and engagement of seniors in health care.
Steps to Home Video Series
In addition to the in-person events, this summer saw the launch of the "Steps to Home" video series, which spotlighted the journeys of real patients as they underwent rehabilitation. This series documented their path to recovery and reintegration into their homes following skilled nursing care. Each episode emphasized the critical role of innovative therapy and personalized support in the rehabilitation process, reinforcing the idea that movement is at the core of quality care.
