Exploring the 'POP UP BOX' Exhibition in Azabudai Hills

Starting from July 16, 2026, the Azabudai Hills Gallery Space will unveil an exciting mini-exhibition series known as 'POP UP BOX'. The inaugural event will showcase a captivating blend of classic literature and modern artistry, featuring the popular series 'Otome no Hondana' or 'Girl’s Bookshelf'. This event aims to highlight the theme 'Unique Finds from Japan' and will feature remarkable artworks that reimagine the works of celebrated authors through the eyes of contemporary illustrators.

The first segment of this exhibition will run until August 30, 2026. Attendees will be treated to the enchanting worlds of three notable works: 'Akai Rosoku to Ningyo' (The Red Candle and the Mermaid), 'Kagami Jigoku' (Mirror Hell), and 'Yonaga Hime to Mimi Otoko' (The Long Night Princess and the Ear Boy). Each of these tales, crafted by literary giants such as Osamu Dazai and Natsume Sōseki, will be adorned with beautiful illustrations that bring new life to these timeless tales.

Immersive Experiences Await

Moreover, the exhibition invites visitors to fully immerse themselves in the narrative worlds of these stories. Unique photo spots will be set up throughout the gallery, allowing you to step directly into the enchanting realms created by the authors and illustrators. As a special incentive, the first guests will receive a limited edition sticker (random selection of three types) as they enter the event. A line of exclusive merchandise, including postcards, note cards, pouches, and mirrors, will also be available for purchase. Particularly notable is the acrylic card gift (which serves as a keychain) for those who spend 4,000 yen or more within the exhibit shop.

In addition to the visual delights, the adjacent Azabudai Hills Gallery Café will offer a specially curated limited menu inspired by the classic Japanese literary scene.
