America First Credit Union Expands in Phoenix with New Branch in Surprise

America First Credit Union Expands Its Reach in Phoenix Area

America First Credit Union is making strides in its growth strategy with the recent opening of a new branch in Surprise, Arizona. This new location, inaugurated on October 19, is a significant step in the credit union's mission to provide accessible financial services to the Greater Phoenix area. It marks the second branch opened in the West Valley in 2026, following the launch of a Glendale branch earlier in July.

Thayne Shaffer, the president and CEO of America First Credit Union, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating, "We're thrilled to increase America First's footprint in the rapidly growing West Valley and offer our financial services to the Surprise community. Investing in Arizona is a vital part of our growth strategy, and we're eager to build lasting relationships with local residents."

Located on W. Bell Road, the Surprise branch offers a comprehensive suite of financial services designed to meet the diverse needs of its members. Services include checking and savings accounts, loans, credit cards, retirement and wealth management solutions, trust and estate planning, and tax-advantaged investment options. This opening reflects America First's commitment to enhancing financial accessibility and fostering economic growth within the community.

The newly designed branch prioritizes both convenience and a sense of community. The contemporary banking environment includes comfortable seating areas conducive to personal interactions, while private offices are available for members seeking more extensive financial discussions. The design is further enhanced by elements inspired by the local Southwestern culture, providing a familiar atmosphere for community members. The adaptable layout of the branch also allows for community workshops and events, reinforcing America First’s commitment to local engagement.

To celebrate its official opening, America First hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 23, followed by a community event on October 24. These events attracted local leaders, partners, and community members, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and support within Surprise. During the festivities, America First presented checks for $5,000 each to two local organizations: the Dysart Unified School District and St. Mary's Food Bank, highlighting its dedication to giving back to the communities it serves.

The new Surprise branch is operational from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, making it convenient for members to access the services they need.
