Octopus Energy Signs PPA With KG Solar 1 LLC to Expand Green Energy Supply

Octopus Energy Expands Renewable Energy Supply with KG Solar 1

In a significant move to enhance its renewable energy supply in Japan, Octopus Energy has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with KG Solar 1 LLC, a new subsidiary established by the Keiyo Gas Group. This partnership aims to procure solar-generated electricity, reinforcing Octopus Energy's commitment to delivering carbon-free renewable energy at attractive prices through innovative services.

The operational responsibilities for the development, maintenance, and management of the power plants will be handled by HSK, a company within the Octopus Energy group. With this PPA, Octopus Energy will expand its renewable energy procurement portfolio by adding approximately 50 small-scale solar power plants in the Kanto area, totaling a capacity of 5.0MW, which can supply energy equivalent to about 2,000 households.

This initiative is a crucial step toward securing a stable and long-term energy supply based on domestic resources, enabling Octopus Energy to further enhance its green plans offered at competitive prices. In the context of Japan's energy landscape, reducing dependence on foreign resources and promoting the use of domestic green power are key challenges. Octopus Energy is proactively utilizing renewable energy generated within Japan to achieve a balance between reducing environmental impact and alleviating household energy burdens.

Looking ahead, Octopus Energy is committed to expanding its renewable energy supply nationwide and deepening collaborations with proactive municipalities and businesses that support renewable energy initiatives. The ultimate goal is to accelerate the realization of carbon neutrality in Japan, contributing to a more sustainable society.
