Connecting Students with Global Startups: Internship Program at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is thrilled to announce an exciting internship program designed to bridge local university students and international startups participating in the much-anticipated "SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026" conference. Scheduled from April 27 to 29, 2026, this event marks one of Asia's largest gatherings focused on global innovation and entrepreneurship. In collaboration with EMC GLOBAL, N9 PTE LTD, and TIMEWELL, this program aims to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among students by providing hands-on experience in a dynamic startup environment.
Overview of the Internship Program
As part of this initiative, we will match students with a number of exhibiting startups at the conference. Each startup will host 2 to 3 university students as interns. Prior to the event, students will engage in self-directed learning about their assigned companies and begin their preparations for supporting the visiting startups.
During the conference, which will take place at the iconic Tokyo Big Sight, interns will assist the startups by providing booth support and facilitating communication during business negotiations. Additionally, should the startups express an interest, the interns will help arrange connections with Japanese companies, fostering valuable business relationships. To enrich the experience, members of the TIB Starting Team will act as mentors, providing guidance and support to the students throughout their internship journey.
Important Dates for Students
The timeline for the internship program is as follows:
- - April 7 (Tuesday): Deadline for student applications.
- - April 10 (Friday): Selection process, matching with startups, and finalization of internship placements.
- - Mid-April to April 26 (Sunday): Online internships commence, focusing on company research and preparation for supporting the startups during their visit.
- - April 27 (Monday) to April 29 (Wednesday): On-site internship activities at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, including booth support and Japanese language assistance.
This will not just be a significant opportunity for students but also a chance for startups to tap into fresh talent and innovative ideas that these ambitious young professionals possess. By facilitating this exchange, we aim to create an enriching environment that fosters cross-cultural collaboration and learning.
