United to Resume Daily Nonstop Flights Between Houston and Caracas

In a significant announcement, United Airlines revealed that it is set to resume its nonstop daily flights between George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas, starting August 11. This marks a major step in reconnecting families and expanding business opportunities after a hiatus that began in June 2017 when the airline suspended its services to Venezuela.

United Airlines, headquartered in Chicago, will operate the flights using a Boeing 737 MAX 8, equipped with modern amenities such as individual seatback screens and Bluetooth connectivity. Passengers will enjoy a superior inflight experience, including entertainment options from popular streaming platforms like Apple TV and HBO Max. Additionally, passengers can expect room to accommodate their carry-on baggage and the promise of Starlink Wi-Fi in the near future.

The airline’s hub in Houston has always been pivotal in connecting the U.S. with Latin America and the Caribbean. Currently, United offers up to 100 flights daily, covering more than 50 destinations across the region. With plans to enhance its Houston airport facilities further, including a $2 billion transformation of Terminal B, United aims to solidify its position as a leading carrier in the Americas.

Patrick Quayle, United's Senior Vice President for Global Network Planning and Alliances, emphasized the importance of this resumption, stating, "After nearly a decade, United welcomes the opportunity to resume service between Houston and Venezuela thanks to the leadership and support of the Department of Transportation and the U.S. government. This flight will help strengthen cultural and economic ties across the Americas and further reinforces United's Houston hub as a leading gateway to the region."

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy expressed his support for the development, highlighting the improvements in U.S.-Venezuelan relations under the current administration and the economic opportunities the flight is expected to facilitate, particularly in the oil sector, which is crucial for Venezuela's economy.
