Carnival Cruise Line Set to Open Five Portals to Paradise at Celebration Key

Carnival Cruise Line Prepares to Unveil Celebration Key

Carnival Cruise Line is on the verge of launching an exciting new destination, Celebration Key, which is set to open its doors in just five months on July 19, 2025. The anticipation is palpable as guests prepare to experience not just a new location but five distinct portals to a paradise filled with fun and relaxation.

During a recent visit to the site in Grand Bahama, Carnival leadership, including CEO Josh Weinstein, Chief Maritime Officer Lars Ljoen, and President Christine Duffy, explored the progress being made on this unique project. The executive team emphasized the commitment to sustainable practices as part of the development.

The Five Portals

Celebration Key features five main entry points that cater to guests' diverse preferences. At the heart of the destination is the Suncastle, a stunning ten-story structure located at Paradise Plaza, which serves as the first point of contact for arrivals. This grand entry also houses the Starfish Lagoon, a family-friendly waterslide area.

For adults seeking a more exclusive experience, the Calypso Lagoon offers private spaces, complete with a vibrant island DJ and a large poolside bar. Meanwhile, the Pearl Cove Beach Club adds a luxurious touch with beachfront cabanas and an infinity pool exclusive to adults.

Lastly, the Lokono Cove will highlight Bahamian culture through handcrafted retail shops showcasing local artisans' work, providing visitors with a taste of the rich heritage of the Bahamas.

Sustainability Efforts

As part of the Plant a Tree community initiative, Carnival's team has been actively involved in planting palm trees across the development area. The project has already incorporated around 1,000 Sabal palms, showcasing the company’s commitment to green practices.

Additionally, Duffy participated in the water-filling event for two freshwater lagoons—the largest of their kind in the Caribbean—demonstrating Carnival’s innovative seawater desalination efforts, which will supply the lagoons with fresh water.

“We are excited to witness how Celebration Key transforms from a vision into a tangible reality,” said Christine Duffy. “In just a few short months, our first guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique experiences tailored for them on this beautiful island of Grand Bahama.”

Economic Impact

With the summer opening fast approaching, approximately 500 workers are tirelessly constructing the facilities to welcome guests. The project promises to not only bring Carnival's signature joy-filled experiences but also pay homage to local traditions and provide economic support through job creation and development efforts within the Bahamas.

Currently, 28 Bahamian companies have engaged in various levels of collaboration for the Celebration Key project, reflecting a deepening relationship with the local economy.

“This destination will pay tribute to the rich culture of Bahamas and the natural beauty of Grand Bahama,” stated CEO Josh Weinstein. “Celebration Key is poised to revolutionize our flagship brand and provide endless relaxation and entertainment options for our loyal customers.”

Cruise bookings are already open through 2027, and with diverse routes planned across ten U.S. homeports, Carnival encourages eager guests to secure their adventures in this soon-to-open paradise.
