VinFast's Global Expansion: TIME Recognition Marks a Major Milestone for the Brand

On a rainy Tuesday morning in Paris, a driver halted at a red light on Boulevard Haussmann might not immediately recognize the logo on the SUV beside them. Similarly, a Californian motorist might experience the same confusion upon spotting the emblem on American roads. This isn't one of the familiar German or well-established Asian brands dominating the automobile market; it belongs to VinFast, a Vietnamese car manufacturer. VinFast is making significant strides in Europe and North America, marking a broader narrative within its parent company, Vingroup.

As of September 10, 2026, Vingroup has achieved a remarkable milestone, ranking 340th in TIME’s Global 100 Best Companies list, produced in collaboration with Statista. This achievement places them among the world’s top 350 companies and showcases a staggering improvement of approximately 500 positions compared to the previous year. Remarkably, Vingroup is the only Vietnamese company to be featured in this prestigious ranking for two consecutive years.

A Ranking Beyond Size

TIME and Statista assess companies based on more than just size. Their methodology encompasses three key dimensions: revenue growth, employee satisfaction, and transparency regarding sustainable development. Vingroup garnered an overall score of 81 out of 100, significantly elevating its global position from 817th to 340th.

The figures fueling this success are substantial. In the first half of 2026, Vingroup’s consolidated net revenue reached VND 222.9 trillion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 72%. The company reported a net profit of VND 20.9 trillion, more than quadrupling the figure from the same period in 2025. Notably, the industrial and real estate sectors primarily drove this growth, earning Vingroup an 'Exceptional' designation for its sales performance.

Employee satisfaction also demonstrated a positive trend with Vingroup climbing to 398th place globally, gaining 496 spots in a workforce that now encompasses around 400,000 individuals across 12 countries. Regarding sustainable development, Vingroup’s efforts are embodied in projects like ecological transitions, urban planning, and long-term investments aimed at enhancing urban living quality—beyond just quarterly financial outcomes. Their real estate arm, Vinhomes, has further developed this vision through its ESG++ model, which integrates regeneration and resilience into traditional environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks to apply to urban planning projects covering thousands of hectares.

New Sectors and Ambitious Infrastructure Projects

The introduction of two new sectors in 2025—high-speed rail infrastructure through VinSpeed, connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio and Hanoi to Quang Ninh, and green energies led by VinEnergo—reflects a commitment to fostering an interconnected economy. This approach emphasizes not only standalone projects but also the essential connective tissue—transportation, energy, and mobility—required for a modern, low-carbon economy.

Amidst this expansive ecosystem, VinFast represents one of the most significant achievements in Vingroup’s global ambitions. The company's outreach in Asia, North America, and Europe aims to share the Group’s vision for a greener future with a diverse audience, positioning a Vietnamese automobile brand directly against well-established competitors in the automotive industry.

For customers considering a new automotive brand, however, this global vision is just the beginning. The critical question remains whether a newcomer can garner the trust necessary to integrate seamlessly into everyday life. A study by the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility offers intriguing insights into this dynamic. Conducted with thousands of European car buyers, the findings reveal that individuals open to acquiring an Asian vehicle are on average 53% more likely to switch brands when buying an electric vehicle (EV) – a figure that climbs to 63% in the UK. This indicates that brand loyalty is more fluid in the electric vehicle era than during the era of internal combustion engines.

Embracing the EV Revolution

This shift opens doors for new electric vehicle brands. However, winning over customers demands more than just a competitive product; it requires making electric mobility accessible, alongside developing a trustworthy infrastructure for sales, maintenance, and customer support throughout the ownership experience. With an increasingly diverse and accessible product range, VinFast remains committed to its mission of making electric vehicles accessible for everyone while empowering customers to transition to greener mobility more easily and confidently.

In Europe, the company is expanding its reach with products tailored to local priorities around efficiency, design, and accessibility—including the VF 6 and VF 8, while electric buses such as the EB 8 and EB 12, fully certified for the European market, reinforce its contributions to the region’s greener transportation goals.

Across North America, this same vision is realized through enhancing VinFast's sales and service networks and developing its certified pre-owned vehicle (VOC) program. Collectively, these initiatives aim to establish a more integrated customer ecosystem that goes beyond the vehicle itself, encompassing services and support that shape the ownership experience.

Vingroup previously became the first Vietnamese company to be listed in TIME’s World’s Best Companies in 2025, while VinFast was recognized as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies and among the Best Companies in the Asia-Pacific region. These achievements highlight the growing international recognition of Vingroup and VinFast’s capabilities, ambitions, and expanding global presence.

As TIME’s latest accolade for Vingroup arrives, it comes at a time when their international influence is increasingly pronounced. For VinFast, the challenges and opportunities now span multiple continents—from European cities where the new logo is gradually gaining recognition to North American roads where the company continues to grow its presence and customer ecosystem.
