Danish Army Chooses BAE Systems OneArc for Enhanced Virtual Training Solutions

In a crucial step towards modernizing its military training infrastructure, the Danish Army has officially chosen BAE Systems' OneArc as the core provider for its next-generation enterprise virtual training environment. The agreement, spanning seven years, aims to transform Denmark's simulation capabilities with a comprehensive suite of solutions including VBS4, VBS Builder Edition, Blue IG®, TerraTools® Platinum, alongside ongoing software maintenance and on-site training support.

This strategic upgrade encapsulates the Danish Army's transition from its established usage of VBS3 to a more advanced system that not only enhances its efficiency but also aligns with the nation’s increasing focus on virtual training applications. This shift is anticipated to significantly support operations such as course-of-action development, operational mission rehearsals, and strategic force design.

BAE Systems’ OneArc platform, trusted by over 60 NATO and allied nations, offers a time-tested, scalable foundation to meet both current and future training objectives. Rahul C. Thakkar, president of OneArc, expressed confidence in this new collaboration, stating, "Denmark's selection of OneArc's suite of products represents a major investment in future-ready synthetic training,” emphasizing that the upgraded VBS4 environment delivers the required realism, adaptability, and integration across multiple domains necessary for modern military readiness.

Moreover, this enhancement maintains backward compatibility, preserving the extensive simulation development the Danish Army has built over previous years, thus ensuring continuity and ease of transition.

The agreement is a significant step in supporting the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) 2030 Vision, allowing for enhanced interoperability and joint training exercises with counterparts in Sweden, Finland, Norway, and other Nordic nations that currently utilize OneArc technologies. "This system can lead to a marked improvement in the Army’s training levels," stated Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, Head of the Land Division at the Danish Ministry of Defence's acquisition and Logistics Organisation. He continued, saying that while real-world training is invaluable, rehearsals in a virtual environment allow for more efficient use of time and resources, ultimately yielding better outcomes from physical exercises.

As Denmark evolves its military training paradigm, the collaboration with BAE Systems is set to advance capabilities in multinational exercises and the utilization of shared virtual assets, streamlining the alignment of simulation architecture with NATO and NORDEFCO partners. The enterprise-level access to OneArc's full ecosystem is designed to bolster preparations for large-scale collective exercises and intricate multi-domain scenarios.

With these advancements, the Danish Army is not only positioning itself for enhanced operational readiness but is also setting a precedent for future military training methodologies, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of military innovation and effectiveness in an increasingly complex global defense landscape.
