Revolutionizing Mobile AI: The Era of 5G-Advanced and Intelligent Networks

MWC 2025: A New Chapter in Mobile AI

The upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, taking place from March 3 to 6 in Barcelona, heralds an exciting shift in the telecommunications landscape with the introduction of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technologies alongside artificial intelligence (AI). This pivotal fusion signifies the onset of the mobile AI era, reshaping communication networks into more intelligent entities capable of meeting the demands of an increasingly interconnected world.

The Dawn of 5G-Advanced

In 2024, the commercial rollout of 5G-A kicked off in numerous regions, including China, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific. As we enter 2025, the intelligent core network powered by 5G-A is set to leverage three critical forms of intelligence: service intelligence, network intelligence, and operations and maintenance intelligence. This implementation serves as a strategic entry point for telecom operators, enabling them to harness the power of AI while redefining operational frameworks and expediting the monetization of network services.

Enhancing User Experience with Service Intelligence

One of the standout advancements driven by service intelligence involves the introduction of intelligent calling services. This includes innovative features such as smart call agents, designed to deliver seamless interactive audio and video experiences in ultra HD. By leveraging computational power and bandwidth resources from the network, this evolution ensures a fluid user experience while simultaneously aiding businesses in reducing costs and enhancing operational efficiency. Notably, China Mobile has already rolled out this technology across its network, enhancing call experiences for over 40 million users.

Additionally, the AI Home Hub presents another fascinating development, combining AI with powerful computing capabilities to deliver an integrated suite of smart home services. This offering is set to expand significantly across more than 20 provinces in China by 2025, bringing sophisticated computing solutions into countless households for diverse applications.

The Role of Network Intelligence

Network intelligence relies on a dedicated intelligence framework, known as NWDAF, assisting operators in enhancing user awareness and optimizing experiences. This means that real-time data utilization, assessment, and operational management are now within reach, allowing for dynamic resource scheduling that boosts network efficiency. Tailored experiences can be developed for specific activities such as live streaming, online gaming, or virtual conferencing.

Several of these solutions have already been deployed across various provinces in China, with a nationwide push expected in 2025. Key offerings include the Intelligent Personalized Experience (IPE) and MyLogo service, which features an entry point for services conveniently located at the top of users' screens, facilitating the optimization of personalized mobile service experiences.

Smart Operations and Maintenance

As Huawei innovates within the telecommunications sector, its introduction of the MDAF component is redefining operational models and enhancing quality and efficiency. By unifying operational processes, telecommunications providers can significantly improve management practices. Previously, Huawei helped a major operator in China streamline alarm management and service complaints through the use of this component, resulting in cost savings exceeding 10 million Yuan and advancements toward Level 4 autonomous networks.
