Japan Sleep Association to Host Special Seminar on Sleep Disorders This Spring

Special Seminar on Sleep Disorders

The Japan Sleep Association is pleased to announce a special seminar in honor of Spring Sleep Day, themed "Towards the Realization of the Declaration of Sleep Disorders." Scheduled for March 12, 2026, this event coincides with both Spring Sleep Day on March 18th and World Sleep Day on March 13th.

This public seminar is open to everyone, including those who are not members of the association. Renowned expert Dr. Naohisa Uchimura will discuss the importance of incorporating "sleep disorder" in medical specialties, such as "Sleep Disorder Internal Medicine" and "Sleep Disorder Psychiatry." Furthermore, he will explore the challenges that may arise once this designation is recognized.

Currently, discussions are underway within the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Medical Examination Council regarding the classification of medical specialties. They are considering adding "sleep disorder" to the list of classifications that can be independently designated or combined with other specialties, such as internal medicine or psychiatry. This step aims to improve access to healthcare institutions dealing with sleep disorders for all citizens and patients.

As the President of the Japan Society of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Uchimura's insights will be invaluable to those interested in this pressing topic. We encourage everyone concerned about sleep disorders to attend this seminar, which will also be held in a hybrid format, allowing online participation.

To secure your spot, please register using the provided application form link or QR code below. It's important to note that in-person seating is limited, and we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
